I remember a couple of years ago after doing a City Circle late at night , when we terminated at Central platform 22 my guard came up to me all freaked out as some elderly people had got on at Museum and they didn't get off at Central. When she checked the train it was empty.

Old Picton Tunnel is presumely haunted by a ghost, She was killed when she was hit by a train inside the train. Shocked

They even had ghost tours around the place but I don't believe in ghosts so what you believe is what you see. Posessed Mwa ha ha ha!

I've heard a couple of railway ghost stories. One is that a guard in the US leaning out the window to check a signal, just past a girder bridge (like the one at Moss Vale), when one of the girders knocked his head off. There's a legend stating that every year, during the month of April, the funeral train for Abraham Linchon, can be seen travelling along a stretch of track in New York State.

There would be heaps of Railway ghost stories out there.
A Signalman from the far north transferred back to Newy told told me about an old SM who had toast every morning at 7am. After he had died the guy telling the story told me he swore he could still smell toast at the station at 7am every day even if he hadnt had any.
The next day at Hanbury jct at 7am Im telling you, I could smell burnt toast, and the toaster hadnt been used for an hour... Shocked

I was going to dare say "search is your... no! I just can't say it!!

...but there was a considerably long thread in The Lounge up until at least early last year I think which included lots of railway ghost stories. I'm not going to dig it up though.

... and loving it!
