I am the proud new owner of a workmans sleeper carriage. It has the numbers 337w on the side but I am not sure what it means and haven't found much on the net so far. Can anyone shed any light on the history of this/these carriages? Some locals told me it used to sleep 4 workman and it still has an old copper in it where I guess they used to cook. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Have you had a look around Peter Vincent's site?

Peter has histories of many classes of wagons, and lots of photos of workmens sleepers.

Take a bit of a a look around http://www.pjv101.net.
