Hi 3801 fan,
I can only give you a hint on doing this you need to open up the 3801 .eng file as well as the flying scotts .eng file and you need to copy the 3801 coupling section this section should look something like this
Wagon ( HSET_OSCAR
Type ( Engine )
WagonShape ( HSET_OSCAR.s )
Size ( 3.034m 4.95619m 20.5787m )
CentreOfGravity ( 0.0m 0.0m 0.0m )
Mass ( 90.7t )
WheelRadius ( 0.5m )
InertiaTensor ( Box ( 3.034m 4.95619m 20.5787m ) )
Coupling (
Type ( Bar )
Spring (
Stiffness ( 2e7N/m 0 )
Damping ( 0.2e7N/m/s 0 )
Break ( 1e7N 0 )
r0 ( 0.1 1e9 )
)
CouplingHasRigidConnection ()
)
Buffers (
I use my own model as an exsample of the eng file, the area is in bold this is the part you copy and paste this as the replacement within the flying scotts .eng file but just in case something happens please back up both .ENG files in a seperate folder, I hope that this will help you with you concerns
P.S. You can also find loads of great tutorials at the steam4me and train-sim.com sites and they have more detail within them
Regards Phil

Why not just change it with ConBuilder? Save a lot of stuffing about...

Once again, Phil has rushed in to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Using his suggested coupling parameter, you will ensure that you will never be able to uncouple the loco again. "BAR" means just that - a solid bar connection - no coupling, no uncoupling.
Change the Scotsman to auto couplers by using either:
* Conbuilder as suggested (but I'm not sure if the freeware version undertakes that change); or
* Route Riter: see http://steam4me.railpage.org.au/trainsim/Route_Riter/coupler_change.html.

Hi Yuri, thanks for correcting my mistake mate as I was unaware of the problem that it will cause with the couplings
