I think we should move NZ out of International/Oceania and into the main forum group, perhaps renamed "Australia/NZ Rail News".
NZ is almost another couple of states after all, with a fairly common history... and we don't need a visa to work there.
It could even appear above the NSW threads.
It's a bit un-neighbourly having it all the way down in the International section.

Already proposed by myself & essentially dismissed:
http://www.railpage.com.au/f-t11331222+zealand.htm
But yes, the name in the banner up the top is "Railpage Australia™ & New Zealand" so it would make sense to have it as just another state forum than being hidden one of the international sections.
There's far more potential for NZ-related discussions than there is for the ACT!

New Zealand is not a state of Australia. Hence, "International".
If and when NZ becomes a part of Australia, then change it. I know the Admins here have God-like powers, but this might be stretching a bit.
Would also be keen to hear what the average Kiwi would think about NZ being summarily subsumed into Australia.
Still, if we can still insert sheep jokes into the forum, I might change my mind.

I've heard that some New Zealander's refer to Australia as their West Island.
Bring the 3900s back to Brisbane
Bring Karlsruhe Tramtrains to Australian cities
Extend the proposed Metro to Taylor Square
Extend the Gold Coast line to the Tweed

I should have called this thread "Merge NZ with Australia into a combined Australia/NZ Rail Thread" rather than "Add NZ to Australia".
Perhaps it is too difficult to do technically.

Yup.

That is about the only sensible thing posted in this thread thus far.

Isn't the whole "Railpage Australia™ & New Zealand" thing a bit of vanity on someone's part? Don't the Kiwi's have their own, home grown, rail website?
I'm quite fond of our cousins across the ditch, we've got a lot in common. They're their own sovereign country though, quite capable of doing stuff for themselves. If they had a "Railway Page New Zealand & Australia" which mirrored ours in being 99.9% about their stuff, 0.1% about us, wouldn't we find that patronising?
I'm with the dawg on this. NZ is international. They had their chance to be a part of the Federation of states back in eighteen ninety something. They came to a couple of meetings and decided to pass.

Like this?
or maybe something in colour... from a photo of the Ghan in the outback...
Something really un-New-Zealandish?

I wonder whether there are stats on how much New Zealanders have donated to Railpage Australia™?
Eg. If they have contributed 20%, then maybe it should be Railpage Australia™ A/NZ, with International holding everywhere else.
I wonder how many servers could be bought if NZ brought their donation percentage up to 20 or 25%.

I don't think money has anything to do with it. They are right, its more aptly an International forum for this site.
However, IF there were much more traffic and postings in the NZ forum, then there would be a case for reconsidering where that forum is. Your mileage (and everyone else's) may of course, vary.
