Just spotted by Casey Jones on D283 - a KL leading 8622+86? (8609?) on the down through Campsie. Heading for scrapping where?

For lease - depot, slightly used but recently renovated...

8644 and 8609 were at Eveleigh, 8622 was at Chullora. Merv Gaut owned 8609 and 8622 and on sold them. 8644 was owned by someone associated with SETS.

No just 8644 on it's lonesome.

Maybe Merv is liquidating his assets in preparation of a pending sale ?

Merv sold 8609 and 8644 to NREC Allco - they at at Maintrain to be scrapped, same as all the 86's at Broken Hill.

That's unfortunate to hear. Sad Since Merv sold two 86s, does that mean any chance of electric locomotives ever having the chance to run under the wire in the near future is gone?

Well, by the looks of it, went past Everleigh again today and I can confirm the other reports that 8644 is all along now.

SETS still have 8606 and 4615 at Hornsby and I assume 8644 at Eveleigh all trafficable. They are the only electric locos in operating condition now.

Does anyone know if 8609 and 8622 have been scrapped now? Also, didn't Merv also own 8649? Did that survive this purge?

Thanks to Biqua for the photo.
I note that 8644 has been moved from Redfern. Any ideas where this unit is headed?
Also, can any of the Werris Creek based RP members please advise on 8649? Is she still located at The Creek?
