I am trying to establish when the current Geelong area images on Google Earth were taken.
Some of the factors I have calculated indicate it was taken mid-morning during one of the last summer school holiday weekdays.
One key factor that could help me is the fact that there appears to be 3 sprinters in the South Geelong platform.
Anyone know what time of the day that could have occured ? (ie-which train was a 3 spinter train during the holidays?)

Best thing to is try and find a construction site and establish what stages it's at to what it is at current. Also brown grass indicates summer/autumn period and also what the shadows are doing if there are any.

The newest version of Google Earth has the date the images were taken at the bottom of the screen on most views. Some of the really old imagery (e.g. ~ 2001) doesn't show a date though.

People who talk out their asre usually have bad breath.

The images are around the time frame that drwaddles stated, as if you look at the area of Southern Cross Station and DFO, DFO is still under construction. Wink Well that is what my Goole Eart Plus shows.

Can't remember the time, but I try to avoid catching it for obvious reasons. Twisted Evil

Bay City Plaza, the apartments down on the waterfront, the new TAC offices or the ring road would all work for dating it.

The Sprinter set is on the 0900 Down from Southern Cross. It forms the 1025 South Geelong to Southern Cross.

It was two cars until some time last year. Patronage demands have seen three since then.

There was a 3 car sprinter service about 3 - 4PM heading towards Geelong, and back to Melbourne at 7.30PM. I think this service has been cut back to 2 cars.

There also is a 3 car sprinter service on saturday mornings, from Melbourne, and again in the afternoon to Melbourne. Although I believe this service is often replaced with a 5 car H set from time to time.

Cheers
