i was going to work on friday and i saw QR Staff working in the cabinet that has all the electrical controls for the leveling crossing on youngman street, kingaroy. today i saw the bridge maintainer checking all the bridges. i see from the assco website that assco will be having a run on the branch in february 2008 can anybody else explain why qr staff are working out here on the branch? will the kingaroy branch be open to traffic again?

Hey Fred
I was in Goomeri a couple of weeks ago & saw some crew working there too. They had a stop block [I think that's what it's called] erected just before the crossing over the main street so I'm assuming that some traffic of some kind may have at least made it as far as Goomeri. Goomeri was / is where the maitenance depot is located.

I hope something can be done to save the branch from slow and sad decay.
Garry

Most likely just regular maintenance as required under the contract with QT. I'll be driving between Kingaroy and Murgon on the weekend, so I'll keep my eyes peeled...

My sources tell me those wagons are to be moved by road, not railed out. I'm guessing that the line where they sit is in such bad shape railing them out is not possible. Apparently they've built a siding and a loading dock. Wagons are being moved by tractor to the loading dock where they are loaded onto trucks for their ride north. [Or perhaps to the main line ]

Having driven past this area on both Tuesday and today, I am of the opinion that some wagons have been moved during this time. The ones at Barlil (closest to Byee) are still there, and the ones closest to Murgon are still there, however I didn't see the ones in between. This may of course have been due to the fact that I was driving and paying attention to the road. I didn't see any evidence of anything having been constructed as mentioned above.

These wagons may not be in a fit state to travel safely by rail.

Under the way QR works.....if you see anyone that appears to be doing something that in anyway appears to be upgrading the system, painting building, building something new, beware, they are about to close it down.

It happens all the time. It is a sure fire way of knowing when they are about to shut the system down Rolling Eyes

Fred, how old are you? Have you heard the term "sarcasm"? or "Irony?"

Do you know what Rolling Eyes means?

This board is getting more and more coated in dribble.
