Well, I'll be tuning in to watch the opening ceremony, although I hear that Australia team will be around third from last to enter the arena during the ceremony. In Chinglish it is Zhouzstralia, you see. The Oz athletes will stride into the smogpit with their uniform consisting of Akubra, checked-pattern flannelette shirt, and fleece tracksuit dacks

Anyhow the Australian Olympic Committee are predicting a final medal tally of 34:

20 Gold

10 Silver

14 Bronze

I'm only enthused as a couch spectator watching the running and swimming. In particular, the Women's diving .

Cool Nice.

I must be one of the few people who could really give a toss about the Olympics.

The only events I'm ever really interested in are the 400 and 800 women's freestyle. And that's really only the ghost of the crush I had on Tracey Wickham back in '82. Love Embarassed

Sadly, Loudy Tourky/Wiggins (my fav fem diver) apparently will not be competing in Beijing due injury.

Apart from being a little hottie, I hear she also once stumped a reporter who asked her, "I understand you were born in Israel?". Her reply was, "Umm, well, Palestine actually."

I'll watch the opening ceremony just for kicks, but apart from that I'm not sure. Womens volleyball is definately high up on the list, but the others that i would watch don't get much coverage (shooting, archery, wrestling, judo, boxing, etc.).

Paging Roy & H.G. to Beijing. You are required in aforementioned city to entice watching of, at lease some events, encompassed in the Olympics.

Hope they're on, cause if they're not, the Olympics aren't either. Cool

Me I will be doing what a lot of others on here are going to do give the old DVD player a bashing, sport on TV bores me, yawn! Especially these inane coverages, where you get a couple of minutes of each sport rather than do one and show you all the way through! Cool

They will be on Triple J covering the Olympics from 1600 weekdays plus their usual Sunday spot.

I'm not at all sporty, but I do like watching the Olympic spectacle.

But not this time. The PRC can go and do anatomically impossible things to itself.

I'll be watching, although I don't know which channel I'll be watching more of ~ 7 or SBS. At least with SBS they will be showing a complete event, not switching around from one thing to another as the mood takes them. And SBS have the program listings with coverage times unlike 7 who have start time for the day only.

Opening Ceremonies are over-the-top these days, each country tries to outdo the previous olympics Bang Head. I like opening ceremonies, but keep them simple. Clap

Ah well, I am all set. The ABC - Chaser website is going to be getting a good flogging from me on the POD casting front. Once that has been cleared out, I shall make a move on Top Gear!
