So, I did my usual stint of getting up at sparrows-fart and trundling down to Yass Junction to see some real trains.
The SWTT states an up 'AWB' (Wheat?) is meant to pass through at 6:51am. As I saw the headlights in the distance (this service had never actually run any other time I was there) I got the camera ready...
As the NR got closer I saw the same-old Indian Pacific livery and front headboard... being on the up (and with trackwork further north) the train pulled over to the down and then crawled to a stop...

The Indian Pacific? In Yass Junction? ... It then proceeded to let 2 passengers off.

I take it there was a line closure somewhere between Broken Hill and Sydney? And then 2 Passengers took the initiative and got off in Yass?
(Probably Canberrans)

Then there was just the usual steel service... and the unusual sleeper service.

And some shots from last weekend...

It was announced at APT (Keswick) that 6AS8 would be detouring via Cootamundra (due to trackwork in the Blue Mountains) before it left on Friday morning

More from NR26 ...
The trackwork vehicles all cleared the way eventually. Thanks to the employee who kept me and another ... 'follower' ... updated from the bridge as to what was coming Very Happy

Here comes the reason for morning tea....

And then, during last week, the down freight continuing on...

... I suppose I could nearly start a Yass Junction thread... I've still got around 3 weeks of photos backlogged.

Those last few shots of the freighters going through the worksites are definate pearlers! Smile

I've noted all the trackwork that's been happening there the number of times I've driven past on the Hume Highway, and always curious if they'd let a few NRs through like that.... to which you've proven so!

Ben, Check the SWTT on ARTC's site for the times of trains. The best time I've found is the window from 6:30am to 10:30am on a saturday. You'll get at least one up and one down PacNat freighter.
I'm yet to check the site out on a weekday.

I'll see what I can find... so far these other two shots are the only worthy... have been practising the technique over the last few weeks and yesterdays came out great. A tripod is always used... but it's cheap and shake is sometimes a real mongrel.

Around 4 weeks ago... It looks like someone put their initials in the glue under the previous headboard. B.G.?

Around 2-3 weeks ago...

Maikha, after following your work for quite some time... I'm taking that comment straight to heart Smile Thanks!

I nearly wet myself... quite the lot of swearing came out... I just couldn't believe that it stopped and let off passengers... I should've asked them where they lived. They called a cab and disappeared.

Gosh I love NRs Smile
