Hi,
I was traveling on the good ol' ESR today on sets S16 and S28... I think it was Bondi Junction to Cronulla.
I was in the 6th carriage from the front, and it SEEMED as there was a brake that was applied in the carriage because the acceleration was very jerky and forceful, and there seemed to be something like a brake resisting it from accelerating, and there was this somewhat 'scraping' sound. Also, the car seemed to have been pushed from the rear, rather than being pulled by the motor car in front.
Anyway, when I got off and looked at the train taking off, it seemed as the inner motor car of S16 was being pulled by the inner motor car of S28 and the S16 inner motor car also being pushed from the rear.
So for some reason the motor car was dead... Is this a common occurance, or some setting? Or is it just something wrong with the motor car?

All EMUs with a combination of motor and trailer cars always accelerate under all conditions without any jerking*. If this is not your experience, ask a station assistant or a Transit Officer for an on-the-spot refund. They will gladly oblige.
*Unfortunately, some posters can't.

Traction motors are cutout all the time, they are mechanical and do develop faults.
