Yes as of today more activity in that area and south of Liverpool on the downside .
Surveying staff north of Glenfield on the up side near where you'd expect the flyover to start .
There has been scrub clearing on the up side between Lama and Ingleburn as well .

"Pot-holing" started around the Bankstown lines where the "Duck-under" will go a couple of weeks ago.
All the DSS Survey has been handed over to SSFL's control.

Noticed Arenco now have two more compounds - one east of Sefton (small) and a larger one at Chester Hill.
Also a bit of pink/blue spray paint around and plenty of tomato stakes in or ready to go in between Sefton and Carramar.
Maybe this will be the first sector to commence.

How long will the dive tunnel be (where freight trains are invisible from pax trains on the surface)?

Some sticks have sprung up near Warwick Farm. Not sure if they are SSFL related or for Railcorp drainage works (some pipes and grates stacked nearby).
Arenco compounds along Sefton-Carramar section seem well provisioned with stacks of concrete traffic barriers.
Nothing much changed between Macarthur-Liverpool.

I shall put this in here as it concerns the Freight Lines in Sydney area.
Effective from 0001 hrs on Sunday the 7th December 2008, the ownership of Botany yard will transfer from RailCorp to ARTC.

Looks like SSFL work has commenced at Warwick Farm. Southern extension of east side car park has started. The extra spaces are to make up for those lost when the new passenger overbridge is built. Hopefully it will extend across all tracks (as in recent diagrams), not just over the SSFL as originally proposed.

Saw an ARTC public notice in a local paper regarding SSFL works around Sefton/Birrong commencing this weekend - subject to planning approvals.

Yes;
Very interesting TE2815.
Might have to ring the RailCorp office @ Botany to find out more info.

ARTC’s SSFL site has been revamped and seems to be quite up-to-date now - including construction progress
