Apologies for the short notice, but I only noticed these positions tonight and they aren't on the PN website.

PN are looking for qualified or trainee drivers for Cootumundra/Junee, Parkes, and Werris Creek/Narrabri (all Rural and Bulk depots).

Applications close on the C.O.B Friday 26th of September, so you'll have to act quickly not to miss out.

All applications can be foward to:

Administration Support Officer, Pacific National
GPO Box 1646, Melbourne VIC 3001

or emailed to: abgrecruitment@pacificnational.com.au

For the Cootamundra/Junee positions, please quote reference number COO-0908
For the Parkes positions, please quote reference number PAR-0908
and for the Werris Creek/Narrabri positions, please quote reference number WCK-0908

There are contact phone numbers supplied, but they're the Depot Superintendant's mobile numbers and i'd rather not post those on a public forum, so if you're after any info on these jobs I suggest contacting PN through the above email address or their general info phone number 02 8484 8000.

Just do up a cover letter explaining you want to apply, and attach your resume and e-mail it away.... It's all I did...

Is it a good thing to tell them of your interest in trains?

Should be OK thelastname;
but be with caution.

Do not go overboard with railway hobbies etc
while applying or going for an interview,
and if successful in the training schools.

It can BE against "full on train-railway enthusiasts"
I have seen & witnessed it both in training schools
and doing ground & freight train induction courses.

Just take it with a "YELLOW FLAG" approach.--be with caution.

For what its' worth, I wouldn't let on you're a Gunzel. It can, not saying it will, hurt your cause more than help it...

By all means say something like "I've maintained a keen interest from a young age", but that's as far as I'd go..

Thanks guy's.

I've always taken the approach tell them that you are interested and nothing more.

If they want to take it further I was thinking of taking the approach that having an interest in your job produces a better work ethic, and that there are also plenty of pilots that have a passion in the aviation industry also that I know some drivers that are interested in trains.

And if asked the question of what I know about the rail industry, my answer would be nothing, and that I'm not a know it all.

Thanks for this heads up flying_donkey.
For anyone interested the 'Mycareer.com.au' website had the job ads up yesterday when I performed a search.

I'm just interested to know when Junee/Coota last advertised for trainee drivers?

cheers

If they were to ask a question about the rail industry,it would be a question directed more towards what you might know about the job and the company that you are applying for. I wouldn't say "nothing" but perhaps try and do a bit of research of the company and with PN you can find all that on their internet site. Doing a bit of ground work like that certainly would give you a few brownie points. hope that helps ya mate.
