Also announced today was a $15 million new smartcard ticketing system to be introduced next year, more panic from the government! Laughing

AFAIK don't we need a new ticketing system as there are no more Crouzet (sp?) ticket machines available, i think the ones we have have been discontinued for a few years Smile

Anyway the best part is that we should not go through the same problems as the Victorians have had with their ticketing system.

Having just got back from Melbourne, I can say that their system can be a bit confusing Shocked. 5 x daily weekend tickets, 10 x 2 hours zone 1 tickets, 5 x daily zone 1 + 2 tickets, free travel before 6am ticket, having to buy a daily zone 1 + 2 ticket, not just a zone 2, even though i've already got a daily zone 1 ticket, the if you validate your 10 x 2 hour twice in one day, you get the rest of the day to travel, etc. etc.

It's great to come back here and have one peak ticket, and one interpeak ticket. Easy, and there's only two tickets in the wallet, not 5.

When I went to Melbourne last year, I just took the easy way out and got a Zone 1+2 weekly ticket so I only needed the one ticket. However, I do prefer the Adelaide system.

What do you reckon makes them think that? Not saying that it won't be or will be, it'd just be good to know how they figure that, and how they would measure it.

With less seats on the train, you can pickup a $20 folding chair from Cheap as Cheaps and now have room to setup without taking up a Wheelchair/Bicycle bay.

I was thinking the same thing ... that morning sun is a real blinder! Gotta love the really dark tint on the new buses, maybe the same treatment for trains?

We should see if we can get some of the old windows, decades from now no one will believe us otherwise. Get an opaque window for your shed or toilet.

edit: better still, get two and put about 2 inches of water in between Embarassed .

Yes, Rann has realised that his old stomping grounds are entering the 21st Century, and with that, South Australia will be left behind and become the real butt of jokes Laughing

Pensioners get a good deal up here in NSW. $2.50 for all travel on trains buses and ferries. On the trains, pensioners can travel to Nowra, on the South Coast, Moss Vale/Goulburn, on the Main South, Lithgow on the train, then bus connection to Bathurst, on the main west. Scone, on the Main North, and Dungog on the North Coast. Not bad for $2.50.

Is it just me, or are the last two posts drifting off the topic a tad? Confused

I actually have travelled on a Poxbox with windows that you can see out of, it must be the only one, as all the rest I seem to get you cannot see a damned thing through them! Some of them are a damned disgrace when they pull into the station, is it any wonder people laugh at us, we cannot even keep windows clear, SA the clever state, well maybe one day! Laughing

I'm thinking they had a goldfish moment when they could see through a pox box window. Either that, or the shock of being able to actually see what the rest of Adelaide looks caused a significant case of amnesia.
