I was devastated a week or two ago when a company that I work for had some big new range opening event... I got there, everyone was dressed up for the occassion and then my boss did the opening. I was STUNNED! Media Mike was nowhere to be seen. Obviously his high vis suit was still at the dry cleaner's and thus he could not attend.
The reason TA are getting new windows is so that commuters can see Mr Rann's electioneering ads and posters as they commute to and from work.

It's the ticketing system we use here in Adelaide and it is 25 years old and way out of date for what we need and yes there are no more machinces available.

Yeah, but saying we don't need a new system as there are no more machines available doesn't make any sense.
If there are no more machines available and none can be made then I would suggest we do need a new system. Not what Sarails said. That comment made no sense and still doesn't.

To true hosk1956, the title of this thread refers to the shock and horror of actually being able to see out of (or in through) the windows of our railcars!
But then this is Railpage Australia™ where every thread seems to have it's momentary (or sometimes full blown) drifts into the unknown, the unreal, the unintelligible and the incomprehensible.
And don't forget along with the unbelievable spelling of some comes the total lack of comprehension, and inability to actually read what is written!

Got on 3009 this morning, what a difference new windows make, it no longer looks gloomy inside, and it is nice to be able to look out through the whole window area, rather than a glimpse here and there where it was torn or removed in small pieces, damn excellent is the only way to describe it!

What was the temperature like behind the glass David? was the tint doing its job.
I ask for purely professional reasons, so nobody need go off half cocked on another tangent about railcar air conditioning, tickets or graffiti on the seats.

I sat near a window and it felt better than sitting next to a milky one for sure, I would say it was a lot cooler with the new windows! From inside you really do not notice the tint that much, but it is sheer pleasure to be able to see the suburbs as they go by!

The new windows will be a bit of a boon for tourists, who will now be able to go to Belair or Nourlunga Centre and actually be able to see the sights and the sea! So this may up the numbers of people using public transport, to have a look at Adelaide, rather than sit in a railcar and not be able to see a blessed thing, except inside the railcar of course! It will not up the numbers by a lot but it all helps!

Why would you want to take tourists on a PT ride to Noarlunga? For that matter why Belair? Get in a car and go to Mt Lofty and do dinner at the Restaurant. There is NOTHING at Noarlunga worth showing a tourist, a home for juvies is all that is there. I know I went there today.

This is true Aaron, but some tourists like to go to places where they can by public transport, not everyone has access or wants to go by car. At the NRM you often get asked how to get somewhere on PT by the tourists that call in. Taking the train to either place is a cheap outing to see some sights and even have a look at Belair National Park! Backpackers are usually the ones that ask about PT and where you can get to!

You could show them the site for the commencement of the line to Seaford. It's only a short stroll from the station. And not just that, who could forget..... er.... well there is that section of line between Marino and Lonsdale that has million dollar view, when you can see out the window.

Miracles do happen. Yesterday morning, I scored the Pox from Unley Park to Adelaide. I never got around to reading the book I brought with me because Shock, Horror, I COULD SEE OUT THE WINDOW! Not before time.
I'm not crazy, M'Lynn, I've just been in a very bad mood for 40 years!
