Having read quite a few very interesting threads here and info in other places about passenger services in SA over the years, I thought it might be fun to try and list them all in the one place. I've come up with a list as a starting point (with question marks where I'm unsure) - others might like to add corrections/additions.

I can remember as young boy in the early 70s going on trips to Belair with my Grandmother and seeing all sorts of exotic (to me) destinations on the big board in Adelaide Station. It was an exciting place back then Smile

I've split my list into 3 groups to make it easier and I've included some obscure short workings like the Gawler to Gawler Central service that runs a couple of times at each end of the day.

Current Suburban:
    Adelaide - Gawler
Adelaide - Gawler Central (frmly North Gawler)
    Gawler - Gawler Central
    Adelaide - Glanville
    Adelaide - Outer Harbour
    Adelaide - Grange
    Adelaide - Tonsley
    Adelaide - Brighton
    Adelaide - Norlunga Centre
    Adelaide - Belair
    Adelaide - Wayville Showgrounds

Discontinued Suburban:

    Adelaide - Penfield
    Adelaide - GMH Elizabeth
    Adelaide - Northfield
    Adelaide - Islington Works
    Adelaide - Port Dock
    Adelaide? - Finsbury Stores
    Adelaide - Hendon
    Adelaide - Henley
    Adelaide? - Semaphore
    Adelaide - Gelnelg (St Leonards)
    South Tce - Glenelg
    Adelaide - Mile End Goods
    Adelaide - Bridgewater
    Adelaide - Woodside
    Adelaide - Willunga
    Adelaide - Halletts Cove
    Outer Harbour - GMH Elizabeth
    Outer Harbour - Dry Creek
Adelaide - SA Cold Stores (Mile End)
    SA Cold Stores - Hendon
    Mitcham - Islington Works
    Glanville - Largs Jetty

Not sure if these services existed, or where they went exactly?
    Adelaide - Dry Creek
Adelaide - The Stockade (may not have been passenger services - not willing passengers anyway!)
    Adelaide? - Finsbury (Woodville North)
    ? - ICI Osborne
    Adelaide? - Holdens (Woodville)

Country:
    Adelaide - Victor Harbour
    Goolwa - Pt Elliot
    Goolwa - Victor Harbour
    Sandergrove - Milang
    Adelaide - Mt Gambier
    Adelaide - Tailem Bend?
    Adelaide - Murray Bridge?
    Adelaide - Loxton?
    Adelaide - Renmark?
    Adelaide - Port Augusta ?
    Adelaide - Port Pirie?
    Adelaide - Whyalla ?
    Adelaide - Tarcoola
    Adelaide? - Mt Pleasant
    Adelaide - Broken Hill
    Adelaide - Woomera ?

Cheers,
Ian[/b]

Adelaide - Dry Creek

Until the new Gawler Central Line timetable in April 2008 there was a roughly hourly weekday frequency of "Dry Creek Squirts", always a single 3000 terminating in the back platform at Dry Crack. I believe that these were cut back from the Northfield services when that line closed.

There was also previously some peak hour trains terminating at Salisbury.

Did Murray Bridge ever receive passenger services from the other side of the border?

It would also be good to try and list services that didn't start/terminate in Adelaide. Don't have a timetable in front of me, so any help would be good.

And a hello to the new member i_an Smile

I've yet to scutinise your list, but at first glance I'd suggest that the Adelaide-Glanville service has been discontinued.

Back in history, there were also trains that terminated at Marino and Christie Downs, plus a cross suburban service between Dry Creek and Port Dock

There was a school service (officially a "Mixed") between Murray Bridge and Tailem Bend.

A return Brinkworth - Moonta service plus Moonta - Kadina short workings.

Port Pirie - Peterborough.

Naracoorte - Kingston.

And there were the Budd services out of Port Augusta during the CR days.

I'm guessing Pt Augusta to Marree for starters. Port Augusta out to Pimba or thereabouts. Something like that.

2001, the Adelaide - Glanville services are still operating. If they had been cancelled, we would've seen a few notices on the AdelaideMetro site about it and new timetables issued.

There was a service that worked between No.18 shed Finsbury and Hendon. I don't think passengers would have done the full journey though, it's just how STA utilised the railcar if that makes sense.
There was a service that went from Adelaide up the back of the LeFevre peninsula, and also a service out to Virginia.

There was also one service from GMH to Glanville. Unbelievably, there is a 1981 STA timetable for this service as well as the Northfield, Penfield and North Gawler line in the main Salisbury library in the local history section.

They are definitely still running - I see one waiting at the platform every morning when I'm changing trains at Adelaide!

2001,
The Pimba service was for Woomera passengers, is this not correct?

Also the railcars starting with a G were run to Maree, can't think of the name at the moment. Remember seeing of photo on the NRM Website.

These were cutbacks of the Penfield trains, or so i've heard.

Plus don't forget the services that were run as limited stop express and non express services, Bridgewater was one.
