CountryLink is RailCorp NSW's Country & Interstate Passenger Train Provider, carrying over two million passengers every year to more than 350 destinations in NSW, Queensland, ACT & Victoria.

Opportunities may exist in the following depots:
Albury, Dubbo, Goulburn, Grafton, Junee, Sydney, Taree & Werris Creek, for current or previously qualified train drivers with minimum of five years driving experience to join CountryLink in providing transportation to RailCorp's Countrylink Brand customers through out Regional & rural NSW, as well as interstate to Melbourne & Brisbane.

The purpose of the CountryLink Driver is to operate CountryLink trains safely & efficiently to destinations according to timetable, while providing a transportation service to RailCorp customers.
   
Selection Criteria   
   
 - Proven extensive experience as a locomotive or electric train Driver on mainlines with a minimum 5 years practical driving experience;   
 - Proven current certification in NSW safeworking principles/procedures;   
 - Ability to supervise staff in safeworking & emergency procedures;   
 - Ability to work unsupervised;   
 - Proven ability to detect and rectify on train faults;   
 - Sound customer relations & communication skills   
 - Ability to work in a team environment;   
 - Understanding of EEO (including the Ethnic Affairs Statement), OH&S policies Environmental responsibilities & Commitment to ethical practices.

Is Goulburn presently a crew depot for CountryLink, or are they making a new one there?

Interesting - the only trains that terminate/originate there are CityRail services.

No idea, althrough I did hear that G'burn CLK Depot has quite a few Syd. Based Drivers based their currently on loan ATM, as they simply can't fill the position based their...

I think G'burn Depot may be responsible for the crewing of the Canberra XPL's as well as responsible for the crewing of the weekly Wkend-operated Griffith XPL so I was once told...

Yes countrylink Goulburn do have a depot as country link trains got to Canberra were they terminate and originate.

Goulburn has always had a crew depot. When it was one railway especially. When railways were divided up Goulburn Freight drivers were eventually amalgamated with the Moss Vale depot and the passenger depot for CountryLink retained at Goulburn.

The Goulburn drivers work:
    1. Canberra to Goulburn;
    2. Goulburn to Sydney back to Goulburn;
    3. Goulburn to Canberra to Goulburn;
    4. Goulburn to Canberra;
    5. Goulburn to Griffith to Goulburn. I think they go through to Griffith but that may be another changeover at Junee maybe.

Do you need Diesel quilifications to apply for this job, just a question, because in some states, you must hold that before you can apply, or is it open slather for anyone. Interested in any answers.

Nope should have looked a little closer, should have put the question a little better. They (REO TINTO) hired a lot of Electric Train drivers from the Perth System, some worked out OK, but 80% did not and wanted their jobs back with the PTA hence no diesel experience. BHP will not hire from the PTA. Spoke to XPT Driver who told me that the last batch from the metro electric system are not that skillled and some did or are not working out. A little difference in driving styles. As for applying, nar, not me, it's on its way out, seems no money in the State and something has to give on a 20 year old clunker, if you dont have the money for upgrades and other essential updates, it will not last long, even though it has given good service for a long time, days are numbered. Look at the state government cutbacks. maybe the cheap fairs for promotion, to get people back on the rails.
