After just looking at the 3265 thread I can't help to think that steam is making a pretty good come back in preservation.

In NSW alone in the last few years has seen SMR10, SMR 18, 3526, 3642, 3237 and 5917 return to operation. As well as the John Fowler steam locomotive at Timbertown.
And projects still underway I know of are 3265 and Kathleen. Locos to still return to service that have been active in the past include 1210 and Marjorie.

So what other steam locomotives Australia wide will be seing a return to service in the next few years?

Railway Museum vandals need some serious @r$e kicking right now... Why the hell do they have to weck our hobby for. It's a load of BS.

It is so good to see Steam out on the Main lines of NSW and Victoria.

Steam almost seems terminal over here.

HVTR might be running to Dwellingup next year.... maybe...

I don't think Bennet Brook have any operational steam at the moment.

Pemberton and ARHS havn't run in years.

Sounds great in the east, just don't expect to see any smoke over in the West Sad

PRR has NM25, W933, W934 and W22 all in service. In the next 5 years, you'll see Yx141, the Coffee Pot and maybe even T186 all return to service.

The Fowler at Alexandra had a test steam up on the 13th of September and was running in service test on the 14th of September. It is in running condition but is not quite finished with a few littlew cosmetic things to be done to it. A great effort by all the guys up at Alexandra to have it back after being out of service for 15 months.

In Queensland we have seen 3 C17s return to service this year, 720, 802 & 967. 802 after a brief absence and 967 is currently temporarily out of service again. Also PB15 448 is reported getting close to a return.

re-building?

If I remember correctly the headlight was from a T class Wink
Wouldn't that make it a completely new loco Upside-down Razz

The Z 4-4-0 will essentially be a new loco, with a few re-used bits. The tender frame and wheels are on loan from PRR. The intent is to build a new tender on top of that frame.
The progress I have seen to date is awesome.

That seems to be a common rumour. I don't know the truth of the matter, however she got a couple of runs to Ebenezer and back the other day for the Ipswich Model Show.

The T class boiler down Queenscliff had it's first fire in quite a while about 2 weeks ago. Tender frame starting to take shape as well, fantastic work by the guys down there
