5917 is currently (Monday November 3rd) making its way to Sydney. The loco (plus water gin) left Cowra before dawn and was reported through Yass at around 08.30. Late this arvo it was refuged at Goulburn while receiving attention to a hot bearing and will probably continue on to Eveleigh later this evening. Hopefully the loco will see some use on the Cockatoo Run before the steam season ends with the arrival of summer.

You know, if I was going to lease a steam loco for six months, I wouldn't start in November.

It'll still be great to see it go around, when it's not fire-banned in the LES.

It'd be nice to have it in Sydney, longer term, but I wouldn't blame the owners for wanting it back again to play with over the winter months. How ever it works out, we'll still get to see it more than we would if it stayed at home in Cowra, so we're in front from the start.

Sure was. Apparently the loco stayed at Moss Vale overnight (I'm guessing the crew ran out of "hours") and then completed the trip to Eveleigh this morning.

A few of the kids at school saw it on the way to school. One of the other students who saw it said it looked like they were having problems

Cool hope this loco can make a run to Hunter Valley Steamfest next year.

Railway Museum vandals need some serious @r$e kicking right now... Why the hell do they have to weck our hobby for. It's a load of BS.

Yep she was a no show Sad Hot box problem as stated by Nosecone.

Nosecone, do you know how serious the problem is? And is there a chance she'll continue on to Eveleigh tomorrow?

No news to report about the seriousness.

I heard that the crew made an "Is there room at the Inn?" call, from Tahmoor. Handy to have a nearby operating steam museum and friendly workshops to pull in to.

That makes four 59s at Thirlmere. Still not enough.
