G'day!

I do not know if anyone else has had this problem, but on several occasions, when I have been viewing Railpage Australia™, all of a sudden, I get new windows opening up... I go to shut them and they reopen. On several of the occasions, the computer screen has flashed in several colours for about 30 seconds blanking the whole screen and the toolbar on the bottom of the screen. I now wait until things have settled down, then make sure that all the screen has come back to life. I then shut the windows, one at a time, from last window open to the first, back to the original page.

Now, the questions that I am asking... Is this problem confined to my computer or are other Railpage Australia™ users having a similar problem? If this is a problem that is not confined to me, is there a cure for it? I am running up to date anti virus and all the current patches for the system that I am using.

All suggestions and advice greatly appreciated.

Ding.

I can't say that i've *ever* seen anything like that on Railpage. Shocked My first guess would be "virus", but as you say you're covered there, I would wonder what you have in the way of anti-adware programs? Popups are the mating call of www ad spam.

Ad-Aware will fix it. These things are not sent to you... your computer is asking for them.

I use ad aware, as well as Spybot Search and Destroy.

(The logic being that what one misses, the other will find.)

Both of these programs are free for personal use. I believe that Micro$oft also has an adware program, but I've never tried it.

I have become a fan of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware of late. It seems to get rid of all manner of nasties...

I thought that DF4D-0130's complaint only appeared after visiting "ghay smeg" sites!

NO, SERIOUSLY; Has never happened to me on this site, but back in the mid 1990's I used to get that from trawling password werez, hack and crack sites.

Since I'm over it, it has never happened since, except when I look at a "free smeg" sites.
