The comedy of eBay in the HO section. Part 2

If you'd read your user agreement when signing up to ebay (or checked it now you have concerns over GST, etc) you would know that Australian registered users are dealing with eBay International AG, a company based in Bern, Switzerland. You Ebay monthly fee invoice does not include any GST charges as you are dealing with a company in Switzerland which is not required to collect the Australian GST.

As your concerns about fees indicate you're looking at ebay sales from the perspective of a bulk / regular seller / trader rather than a casual seller I suggest you look into the various packages offered by ebay for bulk & business sellers which can offer far better fee structures for you scenarios.

Well we did look at a comparison with a shop that sold 3.5k last month, that is where the two hundred dollar increase occured.

Also we can look at a single item selling at say 10.00 for a casual seller.  Compared to when we signed up pre compulsory paypal offerings the total charges are four times what they used to be.

For a person selling an item in an auction starting at 99 cents and finishing at $75.00 the charges are nearly double what they used to be.

For a person selling a loco at say $250 the fees now are close to 40.00 Whereas it was $15.00 pre paypal and $27.00 till now.

For a person selling say a brass loco at say $2500. the fees now will be about $320.00 compared to 80 to 100 in days of old.

So yes the only people better off now are Ebay shareholders.

And for the larger sellers you also need to consider the cost of fraudulent claims by buyers.  Having spoken with several sellers there is now a substantial number of false claims made and paypal/ ebay always favour the buyer which results in considerable losses for sellers.

Yes the whole picture is really rosy for sellers.

And eBay force you to sell on their site?

You seem to be big on posting 'facts' but you don't seem to actually have a grasp of what's going on. I wonder how the 'several sellers' you've spoken to know that the claims are false, surely if they had some proof they'd be presenting their side of the proof and not gaining a charge back? Or is there are actually no proof? Or perhaps not even 'several sellers'?

Had been like that all weekend whilst we were trading at Hurstbridge Show, so when we got back we could simply change the price. You will now also notice the HZ Weedex Spray Van and 44 gallon drums in HO, OO and O scale have been added to the online store.

Business class ?

This might be the answer to that. My bolding by the way, but if he looked at the label on the box it might tell him more. They are usually branded as either first class or second/economy class cars on the label on the end flap of the box.
It seem to me that some buyers are NOT reading ALL the listings properly before bidding, & then leaving me unfair feedback !
If you make a bid, & you get the item & its wrong, then that's not my fault, I list & describe the item/s as best as I can !
If you need more information, Then email me & I'll try & help you if I can, as most of my regular customers know I DON'T BITE & I do the best I can to help !

Some of their other second hand items are even worse. For instance: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/N-Scale-Lifelike-SD7-9-Number-6923-Conrail-Blue-/170846325340?pt=AU_Toys_Hobbies_Model_Railways&hash=item27c73c0a5c

Berg's have had a number of second hand brass items in their cabinet for ages and probably wonder why they do not sell.

Their statement:
N Scale Lifelike SD7/9 Number 6923 Conrail Blue (SD7 or SD9, which one?)
  • Exellent Runner (spelling)
  • Spare Mechanism (why)
  • Repido Couplers (spelling)
  • No box (this makes it so expensive?)

If anything is going to put this hobby into disrepute, this sort of thing (and the previous posting), would be a winner.

Maybe if they were brass.

Maybe if you got 2 ,not a bad finish compared to my AR 45 very hard to decal the chevrons in one piece and the lights have melted the body slightly . Look at their feedback they do sell their pricey stuff , they did sell a MD 60 for nearly 2k just recently wow.

They might just get that price. I have some vehicles in my collection that I have been snapped up by collectors for similar prices (and more).

Hell I used to have that model years back and gave it away to a mate who has since left this world. Pity I could use that cash right now. I wonder how much my original Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car or Batmoblie are worth these days as I still have both of them in reasonable nick. Both are original Corgi toys.

How about the standard postage $27.00, would hate to have it registered or express, it would also be nice if they advised the brand, Rolls Royce comes to mind.

I don't think it is a Trainorama FHG seems a bit messy on the sides and the casting join line gap roof to end. No steps.
When they were first released they were $90 for a 2 pack

How does that line go? A fool and his money are soon parted?

I would have suggested some dummy bidding to get the price up,  but I think its just stupidity...
