Hi All.
I'm trying to compile a list of all the Rail tunnels in Victoria, for my interests in rail terrain, closed and open.
So, I already know some rail tunnels, Eg.
-Geelong
-City Loop
-Cheviot, Mansfield line
-Healesville
-One of them on the Swan Hill or Bendigo Lines, Not sure where though.
That's All I know from the top off my head.
Any answers would be apprieciated. Smile

Regards,
Dylan

There are two on the Clifton Hill line on the down side of Jolimont.

The one  on the Healesville line is Tarrawarra, as I understand it.

Just a list.

I won't include the Jolimont tunnels as of yet.
      duttonbay Minister for Railways

The "Clifton Hill" tunnels are both between Jolimont and West Richmond, not certain of their names, but have seen references to simply "Jolimont" and "West Richmond". Not very imaginative.

There were also tunnels on private railways in Victoria. The Bump Tunnel on the Powelltown Tramway, the tunnel on the Fyansford-Batesford Quarry line (the longest in Victoria), and one or two on timber tramways in the Otways.

There is one up near Tallarook on the closed line, you can drive through it I think.

Hotdogpants1, Bunbury street is dual gauge, not standard gauge.

Despite it being classified as a tramway, I remember mention of a tunnel on the Powelltown Tramway, which despite its name was quite a substantial timber tramway, with its own passenger service and quite large workings.

      Wasn't it at Gladysdale area?

My mistake, I've fixed it (forgot Dynon to Totty was dual guage).
And Nice photos, I expecially like the one of West Richmond with the vegetation coming down. Smile

No, the Bump Tunnel (previously mentioned) was beyond Powelltown, in the Noojee direction. It's located at the divide between the Little Yarra and Latrobe Rivers. There is a walking track which takes in the Bump Tunnel portal (the tunnel itself is sealed). Google "Bump Tunnel Powelltown" for details.

No, you're just a twunt who posts off-topic dribble in a genuine historic enquiry, therefore - go away and post no more.

      Are you the true Flamer?
Tunnels in Victoria are few and far between?
Is Federation Square considered a tunnel.
What defines a tunnel now ie: Dowd’s Hill Tunnel (Broken Hill)

Furthermore, The were a stack of timber tramways in Victoria, including the Gippsland region, so it would make the list a bit long.
I'd be happy to make a tramway tunnel list, but there isn't alot of info on tramways, but I'm open to correction. Smile

A question about the Fyansford tunnel.

Where on the Melways did this tunnel operate?
        duttonbay Minister for Railways

The LRRSA have a pretty good idea of the tramway tunnels, and they only know of the Bump, and one or possibly two in the Otways, as I have previously mentioned. It's a very short list...

I couldn't find it either. The track just ends at a open space, which should be the cement works.
