Railway Archaeology: where is it? #2

My mindset was in NSW.

How about Lal Lal on the North Geelong to Warrenheip line? Plenty of bluestone along that track.

Having been down amongst the bluestone a few months ago, the hint made me think of that line immediately and it was a fairly easy case of eliminating the other stations.

(BTW wurx, that link to the rest of the Lal Lal pics has an   http://   on the down end which causes it to derail).

Where is Historical Building #32 (a former Gangers cottage, just visible amongst the trees to the left) and the site of this former Victorian station located? (And to be honest, I tried searching for it on the local history sites for the area in question without result).

Given that all is quiet, the first hint is that the location is in SW Victoria.

I agree, the location would be difficult to pick, and it is not a particularly photogenic location, so I will give it up and declare Open Floor.

Rodo - you have nominated this place a few times in the past, so when i was in the general area back in early December I made a detour to see what the attraction was.

It is the site of Hawkesdale station (several km's out of the town to the NE) on the Koroit - Penshurst - Hamilton line.

A bit annoying - I actually had Hawkesdale in mind for a guess, but so often lately, Railpage is unavailable when I check-in during brekky.  Sorry I didn't get the guess in to keep things moving.

Given that Open Floor prevails deadlaker, post away.

Thanks mikesyd, but not sure I can get anything posted in a timely manner.  Hopefully someone had something in mind and will go ahead with posting the next teaser.

Sorry that no one persisted with your pic mike - in my case, because I've not visited SW Vic since I was a kid - when many now dead railways there where very much alive, and would therefore had not elicited much notice from a 9yr old.

In the absence of any other allcomers, I will step into the breach again with something to puzzle you all. This pic has not been cropped.

I'll try Michelago to start things off. Looks quite southern NSW-ish

Yes to NSW - though not the southern parts thereof and no to Michelago.

I'll say Tenterfield then.

Cowra?

More north than Cowra, but not as far north as Woolnough territory.

Carcoar then ?

It's Merriwa, looking N/W towards the end of line, loco on the left, taken from near the end of the platform.

Happy looking,

Well some of us are still here Martyn.

Not quite a month has passed, so it's definitely open floor.

Please share your mystery pic with us Smile

Many thanks, Wurx.

There seems to be a system problem at the moment. My offering is coming up as a complete blank. I will work on it but, in the meantime, if anybody else wants to put anything up, feel free.

Cheers

Here goes again.

Unfortunately, I have not been in a position to take any photos of Australian railway archaeology recently. However, here is a picture of somewhere in Australia generated from Google Street View in the course of some private remote investigation of something with UK and Australian connections, but not directly connected to railway archaeology.

Where was the Street View car?

Far-ish north maybe? On closer inspection, that track does appear to be NG rather than SG...........
