Sounds like it's because since RFR what used to be the citybound platform is now used for Bendigo bound trains in the morning, which is the side with the booking office and other facilities.

Poor Riddells Creek locals, on the same line the suburban passengers at St Albans have had a similar scenario since 2002 and these are much, much more numerous.

^ I know perfectly well how it's spelt, that used to be my local line infact. Concentrating on the content of my post is better than a few letters in a place's name.

Some work seems to have been done on that old goods shed already. The old wooden door on the down end has been replaced by glass doors, and a platform with railings erected over the pit to allow access to the platform from these new doors. Presumably this will become a new booking office.

There is also a door cut into the bluestone wall at the other end of the building, opening onto the platform. It always seems to be open as my train goes past, and it appears to have had a concrete floor added inside, flush with the platform. A couple of wooden benches have been placed there, making it into a waiting room. The insides appear to be otherwise untouched.

The roof had been repaired last year.

It appears most of the heavy work has been done, and the tender is really for internal dividing walls, plumbing, wiring and fitting out.

Incidentally, for such a small town in a seemingly remote location, a surprisingly large number of people use this station. On the 5:00 PM down Bendigo service, it appears almost the entire leading carriage empties here, and about another carriage load of people alights from all the other carriages.

Idea  Picking up your sense of humour in a one dimensional transport forum is very difficult.

I can walk and chew gum at the same time.

I can't help being a grammar and spelling Nazi as the written English language goes down the toilet as text-speak is becoming part of the 'normal' mode of written communication.
