Hi all

Haven't photographed an electric train in quite a long time! However, came back with this shot recently I'd like to share with you all.

Enjoy!

So SkiTube is funicular now is it?  Razz

Nice shot, thanks for sharing. I've always loved aerial railway views, my flight back from Shanghai flew directly over Newtown and Sydenham and from my seat I could see everything from Macdonaldtown and St Peters to Redfern in the morning peak - shame they don't let us turn on electronic devices while we're landing!

Maikha, be honest now, you're just doing this to mess with the mind of that Yellow Doors guy who will be zooming like crazy to find the carriage numbers....   8)

I videoed my 2 little ones on a recent Virgin Blue flight to Canberra (their first time on a plane and their reactions to takeoff and landing were priceless). We were in the very rear seats on the little Embraer and I purposely asked if I could film them using my mobile if it was in Aeroplane mode to stop it squawking over the airwaves. Stewards were in full view sitting behind us and nobody had any objections to it.

I would expect that modern aircraft would be designed with mobiles and other "noisy" devices in mind and have appropriate measures in place to stop the pilot hearing, or worse still, the flight recorder from recording a GSM mobile's famous buzz budda buzz buzz budda buzz.

Air New Zealand had cameras on their front landing gear of a 747 and they turned them on for everyone to see when landing. It's quite a picture when coming into Sydney

Certainly that was the case when I last used them in 2003

Might as well be with the grade! Oh, and it has been a long time because I did the SkiTube over a year ago! Razz

I've always done so and never had an issue from the crew. Always ask first!

For those budding pilots here (Like Oldfart) will tell you that the Main South line is the main visual landmark for aircraft taking off from Bankstown Airport on the runway heading North West. This shot was taken while I was back seating another student's Navigation flight returning to Bankstown

I dunno, it's kind of a common shot. Same old trains photos get kinda boring after a while. Why couldn't you be a normal gunzel and just take a really exciting photo from the platform?!?

Great shot mate, I was scratching my head to remember where the lookout over Canley Vale was, until I remembered that there are these things that can fly that carry people in them.

(I hope you were not flying when you took this, haha)

It's funny.  With satellite images or aerial shots, it is always the distinct train lines which help me pinpoint where I am.

In contrast to what Raichase has said, you should share some more of these aerial shots Maihka!

Thanks all

Raichase, as in my previous post before your reply, I was having a back seat ride (Not flying the aircraft) with another student who was doing their Navigation training.
