Countrylink delays

In the spirit of the Sydney forum's "Cityrail delays" I thought it would be appropriate to start a similar thread here to ask about delays that Countrylink services are involved in.
To get the ball rolling,
Wednesday 11 August

Northern Region - The Grafton to Sydney XPT service has been replaced by coaches for the entire journey. Passengers from Grafton will be taxied to Coffs Harbour, where they will join a coach service departing at approx 910am, 90" later than timetabled. Coaches from Kempsey will depart close to train timetable.

Anybody know what happened to NT36?

".... due to trackwork being carried out by ARTC in Victoria" LaughingLaughing  Thats putting it very nicely.  Should've read "due to ARTC botching the concrete sleepering program on the old SG line in Vic so that now two thirds of the line is under severe speed restrictions due to mud holes!! An average of nearly one freight train a day breaks apart due to the roughness of the line.   Rolling Eyes

It was in the SMH a couple of days ago. I am surprised there hasnt been something done on a higher up level, given the safety risks involved.

I personally think making this thread a sticky would be a nice idea, As it gives people prompt factual info about their journeys

Well, as it's ripped from the CountryLink website, perhaps people travelling on CLink and looking for information on delays should check there first... Rather than getting it second hand here.

Yesterday I walked from Concord West to North Strathfield (nostalgia checking out the home and surroundings where I lived for the first 27 years of my life) Two XPTs passed, one in each direction between about 12.45 and 1.30pm. Cannot find them on the timetable, not sure if they carried pax as train watching was only secondary to my purpose. Any ideas?

I would think that those would be the up and down Grafton XPT services, although the one on the up would have to be very early to pass at that time! Might have been a very late Casino service?

The main use I see is of the disruption threads is asking WHY a delay happened to a train I was on, or WHY there was no trains due to trackwork.

If you go here first to see if your train is running, you have rocks in your head! Laughing

I believe it was the cancelled run from the day prior.

there will be a few serious delays today for Countrylink on the North Coast with NT33 NT35 NT31 all delayed or truncated due to a accident at Coramba where 7WB3 clipped a car to the North of the old station area. there were no fatalities in the car or in the train crew, and all locos and wagons remained upright and remained on the rails.

All 3 locos on WB3 damaged. Massive delays expected on all trains into Brisbane on Monday

This incident in suburban Melbourne sounds like it could have lead to the daytime XPT being cancelled today.
The 68-year-old Keilor East man died instantly when struck by the Sydney-bound express on a bridge just before 10am (AEDT) on Sunday.

Police say he was walking along a trestle bridge over the Maribyrnong River in Keilor East.

No, the XPT was not cancelled, but was delayed substantially.

If you missed the Victorian thread on the Wodonga derailment.

Pacific National freight train derailed at Wodonga, on the Victoria-NSW border, just after 7am on Saturday, sending two carriages flying off the track and down an embankment, damaging a bridge. The other 13 carriages fell onto the adjoining track.

Following urgent repair work, limited freight services were expected to resume from 6am this morning. But passenger services will not start again for several days, the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) said on Sunday

I second that as well, I saw the XPT rocket through Henty at 7:10am this morning which is very rare that happens here.  Shocked

Does anyone know why this weekend's Griffith Xplorer was cancelled (yet again!.....is this Australai's most cancelled rail service?)
Is there a link between this and the cancellation of the Moree Xplorer today?

That would have been ST26, the captive XPT set after the Wodonga derailment. My previous post was concerning another train a month ago!
