Of course there's rules and procedures for dealing with this situation. In this case, it's TWP144 in the Train Operations Manual. I won't go into detail about what the procedure is, except to say that it's pretty simple and something that train crews would cope with quite easily.

I'm not aware of any major problems with the M set's doors. They're generally pretty reliable. Unless we see a spate of door failures, I'm going to chalk up these two incidents to coincidence.

Nothing in 144 deals with a lack of doors. I know what the procedure would be, but it was a tounge in cheek comment...  Rolling Eyes

"Doors cannot be closed" pretty well covers it. A door cannot be closed if it's missing . . .

Fair enough it being tongue in cheek, but it can be hard to distinguish a joke from an ignorant comment in a short black-on-grey written comment.

Sure you would use TWP 144? I wouldnt for a fairly obvious reason...

Could always use it for the faulty TI?

I'd be more likely to use TWP156...

"FullSeries"

TWP 156 is more for the operation of doors, not resolving the issue of defective doors. Still, TWP 156 still wouldnt be the most approprate one to use in this example.

Door Missing???  how can this be.

As I don't work in the industry but don't crews check their trains at start & end of shift??

If the door fell off whilst in service I would assume that a pax would have reported it to someone, or surely someone would be able to see a big yellow door lying beside the railway track.

If it went missing whilst stabled then all I can say must be some lack security as I'm sure the door would not be that easily removed & would take more than one person to get it off the premises.

But then again maybe someone wanted a train door to go with the trains keys they have got.

Or any news on what actually happened. I am intrigued to see know what actually failed because I was wonder the impression that the doors shouldnt come lose in a derailment, then why have they come off during normal running.

Ring up Railcorp and given them another excuse to delay the Waratahs!

Why does the title have to be changed? I knew what 42101 meant.

Or is someone trying to replace the spell checker?

Does anyone have photos or concrete facts about the missing doors? So far all I can see is major speculation.

Mind explaining how people who HAVE seen doors missing are speculating???? Rolling Eyes

I meant in reference as to to why the problem is occurring, i.e.:

Until we hear from someone in the know, who can say what the problem was?

Can someone just clarify for me- what exactly is the problem, Do the doors actually come off? Are they remaining open during travel?
  JoeT Assistant Commissioner

The Endeavours are known to lose their doors on opening occasionally. Too often actually.

Supposed to have been fixed with forged, rather than cast hinges.
Something to do with air pressure entering and exiting tunnels at high speed is the lip service I've been given in the past.
