If i lived close to the line I'd do it.

I'd also be happy to help out if you do find a location.

The obvious place would be at the B&B at Mount Lofty Station.

What about near the WYE signal cabin in Adelaide?
You would not get the Overland though.
  Ads Deputy Commissioner

Location: Melbourne
For further Victorian cameras:

*Somewhere on the North East line would be very valuable.

*Western SG line has Bunbury St cam, Ghap sightings and now a web cam at Stawell. If a another webcam were to be installed on the Western line, perhaps Dimboola or Maroona?

*Staying close to Melbourne, a camera around Sunshine would capture trains using the Ballarat, Bendigo and North East lines.

Who has any ideas for Sydney cameras?

I'm not really a super active gunzel to know all the haunts, but perhaps Marrickville or Enfield?

Kalgoorlie? In SA you could see that a train might be coming in the next five hours(?) or so.
How long does it take for a train to go from Kalgoorlie to Dry Creek?
I just had a complete stab in the dark at five hours. That would be no stopping.
I THINK it takes about 12 or few less hours from Melboune to Adelaide.
Even though I am normally on the Melbourne-Adel areas, the train spotters near Pirie would probably appreciate a tip off every now and then.

Could we get one in Albury?  Not because I need it here though it would be good to not have to drive down to the line, but because it would add options to the melbourne fans.

My nomination would be:

Ararat (great also if they do re-open the SG line to Maryborough)

Maroona (would get a lot more traffic)

COOL! Just what we need. What are all the government people complaining about with our rail system. Laughing
Alright. I suppose I'm a bit off.
I suppose it would take about 18 because if the train travels at 400KMPH in 5 hrs 10 hours would halve the time. 200KMPH. 18 would make the train travel at about 120 ish? Just another guess.

How far off am I?
Do I get another chance. RazzLaughing

Hornsby sounds good, but Central/Redfern would be lacking in freight - something that would not have been the case years ago; however that location would have the XPTs, the IP and the odd enthusiast tour - not to mention a plethora of sparks (which I would find boring, but perhaps I'm a tad jaded from working the bastards....)

I'd suggest somewhere between Macarthur and Glenfield, since the SWFL is going to be built in the future. Views of both freight and passenger trains

What about somewhere close to Hombush Station, where the Triangle is for Northern and Southern Services...   Another good spot in Sydney is around Clyde or Auburn for East/West Services

Cheers

What about Enfield or Chullora Yards? They are good spots for the freight trains to move in.  Very Happy
