First off, I'll apologise in case this is in the wrong section or inappropriate. I'm currently hunting anybody selling a NSWGR pocketwatch, any era (not fussy), for work at Timbertown. Preferably under $1000.
In case you're having trouble finding a NSWGR pocket watch, have you ever tried an American one?
From what I have seen, they are generally better quality and cheaper.
Time was more critical to American railroads, which still used Timetable and Train Order working long after we had adopted the block system. It followed that original American railway pocket watches had to be of exceedingly good quality - on par with very expensive Swiss watches today. They are easy to find on eBay &c in working order for a few hundred dollars. $1000 would get you the Rolls-Royce version. I have seen a few NSWGR Omega pocket watches, but they do not match the quality of the American-made Hamilton, Waltham and Elgin pieces I have encountered.
