Aust-N-Rail in partnership with SDS Models would like to announce their next RTR Australian N scale wagon.

It is the FQX/OCX in three different versions. The NSW OCX/NQOX, the Victorian FQX/VQCX with tie down rings and the Victorian FQX/VQCX with side lashing bar. We are also hoping to be able to offer a specific SAR FQX/AQCX version (modified from the Vic version) however this is still under consideration. 12-14 colour/number versions are under consideration.

These models will also feature an N scale version of the XSC bogie, the first of a planned series of Australian specific bogies, with 36in wheels.

The wagon will have a detailed underfloor, a deck with container anchors sized for the Deluxe Innovation containers and body mounted Micro-Trains© couplers.

The combination of the new bogie and the “underslung” Micro-Trains coupler will allow a prototypical ride height for the wagon.

As you can see we have the first drawings already. We’re expecting the first engineering samples in time for the Hobsons Bay MRRC show at Easter, with the final production in time for the Caulfield show in August.

Detailed piping, OCX will be different to FQX variants. Purple is die cast metal frame.

Each version will have its correct side detail.

Container locks will be a separate item so you can place as required.

These will nicely complement the expected Austrains N scale NR, as well as the existing range of N scale RTR models.

As usual we will offer a preproduction order with an appropriately reduced cost.
These models will be available direct and through hobby shops.

Agree.

But it is good to see various manufacturers co-operating on projects.

Brilliant news for N Scalers.

I'm being picky I know but might as well get this correct right from the start. The four letter code for OCX is not NQCX! An OCX and an NQCX are not even the same length.

Good pickup, Typo! Should be NQOX.

Cheers

Well done Rob and SDS Models. I look forward to seeing more cooperative releases in N. Sharing the drawing costs must save a little.

Are there to be two N scale NR locos produced, one by Austrains and another by an unknown manufacturer "Austrians" .

Seriously, I missed the announcement of the N gauge version, could you provide details?

All in all great news for N scale Austrailan modelling.

The N scale NR has been an on again off again project for a few years. Last time I spoke to Mr Austrains it was on again, however there is no official announcement, just a general feeling of optimism from the Australian N scale community. John had better follow through now Smile

The wagons though will also look great behind the Badger Bits 48, and the various Locos I've made... however you can hardly run an NR without a lot of container flats to put behind it Smile

Cheers

Some very nice looking wagons - unfortunately I still have a large number of the older N-Trains kits to finish off. Sad
