The new Railpage cameras have not yet been installed.  The images on the feed are currently being generously supplied by Graham.  Once the new cameras are in.  Some work has already been completed, the feed will be similiar to cam2 at Bunbury Street.

Why do the images have a "washed out" look?

Maybe it's because the camera is faceing North into the sun. Or the camera is like me Old & Tired.
No matter what you do you will never please everyone!

Thanks Graham. I thought I'd mention it in case there was something that could be done to improve the output.

Thanks God, hehe. I am sure the picture will improve no end when Railpage instal the new camera. This camera is the one I use to get the loco ID's and not meant to be a webcam.

Guys,

We are now in a position where the project is nearing installation phase and we have installed the necessary radio equipment at the Geelong end.

Michael is working on the code for Railpage with the development team and myself and michelle12 have completed the site survey and the engineering design.
Again many thanks to Mark Detering.

The time now is to fund the project.

Therefore as is customary on some projects I am calling for donations for the camera gear and the radio equipment. There will also be costs for the installation.

The proposal is to install 2 x HD IP cameras at the site together with a router and backhaul radio equipment. The images produced by the camera will be 1280x720 and are regarded as HD. One camera will provide HD images and the other HD based video which will be archived.

The images feed to be sent to the RP DAM server and flickr.

The costs are estimated at close to $500 for the entire setup and installation. There is some high site work required at Gheringhap Site.

Whatever money is left over (if there is any) will be immediately transferred to either the upgrading of Bunbury Street to HD or to the next camera project in Victoria or South Australia.

If you are in a position to contribute then this would be very well received. Those who do will have their RP accounts tagged as financial members of the Gheringhap Loop Project.

Please send donations via PAYPAL using the donate button on the top right of the browser window.

If you would prefer to contribute via direct bank account deposit then please PM me for details.

Let's get this project in and working.

Regards
Brian

For those of you who have already contributed to this project we thank you. There is still more to be done to complete this project however we are well and truly underway. Last thursday evening we began installation of the site with the first works being the installation and commissioning of the radio link into Gheringhap from Geelong.

This was completed on Thursday evening (late) with the installation being a success. We were able to connect the site to Melbourne via Geelong. This will connect the cameras located at the Gheringhap site to Melbourne and Railpage HQ.

The radio link is solid (does not drop out) and we have been passing traffic on the link since Thursday evening.

Both the radio and Camera #1 (NodeKKU) installed.

Images from the works undertaken that evening were record by Graham and are included in this post.

The works are 25% complete. Please dig deep and help fund the completion of the project.

Regards
Brian

Hello Brian,
Just a quick question, will the railcam replace Graham's motion video cameras, or will Graham be operating his cameras as usual, and updating the Gheringhap website seperatley to the Railpage Railcam?
Basically, is it likely that the Gheringhap loop website will start using the Railpage Railcam as it's only source if information?
Thanks
R

I will continue with my website for now and see how things go. This will not replace my camera's as I am not sure at this stage if the new camera's will supply the loco info I need, especialy at night. But time will tell, and they are very exciting times at the moment thanks to the dedication of the Railpage people.

Thanks for the info Graham.
There was talk of a Mt Lofty railcam. Is this still in the works?

Let's get the Gheringhap Loop and the Hamilton Camera up and running and then we will look to South Australia. I can say however there are discussions and planning already underway for various other locations.

Regards

Brian
