DVR has it's annual Public night run this Sunday 11th March.

11am-11pm - the weather as it stands means we may have a busy night, with the SES to assist in crowd control.

Hope some of you can make  it and enjoy the railway at night !

I'll be at the Sandown Model Railway Show all weekend, and at the night run !!!

Went there last night with my family. Despite the long queues the long train ride was spectacular. It was something different to go around it at night and not in sunlight.

Top work from the DVR  8)

Now off to Sandown today !!

David you and the other members put on a wonderful evening last night.  First Class.  There were a lot more people there last night than the two pervious years as the weather was far more amenable.

The kids had a great time.  Would have been nice to see a food van outside the station serving coffee and donuts Smile

The railway is very happy to announce we smashed our all time record for a 12 hour run. We sold 5324 tickets for the 12 hours plus carried over 300 extra passengers on special trains that day.
The previous record was around 4100.
The result is we have raised $15000 for local community groups!
Thanks to everyone who came down for a ride and thanks to all the members for thier amazing work all day and night.

See you all again next year!

The train ride was nice but it's a pity they didn't run it on a night of the week when there's actually any public transport out of DVR. The walk to Eltham Station at the end of it was a bit grueling..

To all at DVR what spectacular event. Congratulations on your record breaking day. The 'Boy's' from MMR had an absolute ball - one didn't want to leave. We'll definitely be back next year.

The only other comment I would make sammy was at times the trip around was quite slow.  To be expected I imagine with so many trains running to cater for the crowds.

Unfortunatley we can't really run it any other night of the week due to members avalaiblity as well as the need for the next day to not be a school day.
We would love for there to be more public transport near DVR however it is not in our control.

Brain as you can understand it is a bit of a catch 22. The More trains we run the faster we move the line of waiting passengers but in turn the result is more delays on the track.

However we were very pleased with how the trains moved as it is always slower at night and the Station and Signallers were dealing with 14 trains on the system at once.

Thanks to everyone for the postive comments and feedback on your experience!

Unfortunately the last bus up to either Greensborough or Eltham leaves out the front by 9.30pm on a Sunday night. Just had a look on the Metlink website.
