I like to check the "New Forum Posts" for items about events in Australia. I am generally not interested in overseas news. We lately seem to be getting a large number of overseas posts. For instance since I last logged on there are seven pages of new posts and at least four of them are overseas news. I accept that others may be interested in these but I have to do a lot of scrolling to find posts that I am interested in. I wonder if other people find this an inconvenience.
I would like to suggest that "New Forum Posts" be split into "Australian" and "Overseas" sections.

Can the "New Forum Posts" be split into "Australian" and "Overseas" sections for the same reason mentioned above?

Could the Friend or Foe feature of PHPBB2 be implemented?

It would highlight posts I may wish to read and ignore posts by those on my "foe" list. This would save a lot of time and allow me to customise my RP experience. Its not so much that some people are foes or unwanted, its just that their posts are of little interest to me.

Thanks, Peter C

Technically, No.

Greenhill has re-written a lot of the code, Making it useless.

Can I have michaelgreenhill's own response as well please?  Readers also will notice above responses from others as well as me asking if the "New Forum Posts" be split into "Australian" and "Overseas" sections.

Calm down, I'm just stating that to my knowledge, PHP-Nuke, No matter how modified, Will not let any phpBB mods work.

There is no such mod for any software, as far as I am aware

It would be more logical to add a per-user forum filter to the New Forum Posts Smile I'll look into it!

Would such a filter allow the user to choose multiple (favourite) forums?
Would the filter also be available with "View Posts Since Last Visit" ?

Agreed. Would be a nice change of pace to remove some of the more pointless posts from the thread without having to wait for the "herring" count Wink.

So if you don't like someone you can make it so they can't see anything you have posted?  Or so that you don't see stuff that they have posted?

You wouldn't be able to read their posts, but otherwise it would be no different. Say I wanted to add you to such a list, it would just omit all of your posts from my viewing of the forums. If someone else logged in with their login to read the forums, they would see all of your posts. Likewise, you'd still see my posts unless you also opted to hide mine. At least that's how I'd understand it?

It won't be implemented on a per-thread basis - site-wide on or off.

I'm sure I can't be the only one, but I find the formatting interface on RP3 a little strange - it introduces big gaps between lines on the message body screen and sometimes I've had issues with getting formatting to unstick. I understand this may be an artifact of it being a new development, but I'd love to see it as slick as RP2's, as otherwise, I quite like this change Very Happy
I think we could make better use of the "post ranking system" that hides reported posts. Maybe only make it hide them if it's reported by 2 or 3 people (it's been used by people who just dislike the post to hide it). Further, this would tie into an expanded like/dislike ranking system - users could decide the threshold after which a post is hidden for them in reports or % of bad feedback, etc.

Also, I want to find out what the stars below the avatars mean Razz

RSS feed at least per "forum" would be good, on a specific thread would be better.

The "share on" links seem to be quite popular as well. Like the news sites have, such as share to FB, Twitter etc. on a per message basis or per thread basis.

Hi, My previous account "defman70" has been deactivated.. or the like. Is it possible that you or another admin could reinstate it please?
I have much info I would like to keep and I had only just posted items for sale when the problem began, to which I have not been able to edit the advert or respond to messages.
When this happened I became aware that it is pretty impossible to contact admin or any help without opening a new account.
The rp2@Railpage.com address timed out and failed and I was unable to reset my password for reasons I am unsure of.
Any help would be much appreciated

I'm curious, why would this be needed? I simply read/delete any unread messages, and the message goes away by itself...

the like button idea comes up in every second thread... so why not have one Smile

also, how about a gallery page, where all posted photos are automatically copied and redirected to a single thread?
