Suburban Stations Getting New Exits

    Location:
    Due to platforms being congested by people waiting to touch off new exits with myki FPDs are being constructed.
    I'm starting a list of stations and platform numbers here.

    So far I've got
    Seddon p2
    Yarrraville
    Kensington p2
    Blackburn p3
    Mooroolbark p2
    Ashburton
    Burwood p2 and
    Diggers Rest p1.

    I'm not sure if the Southern Cross, Melbourne Central or Parliament barriers should be included.

    Are there any others?

    Coburg, Moreland, Anstey, Brunswick and Jewell, all platform 2.

    Northcote too.

    Watsonia, Rosanna (?) and Greensborough Platform 2 have been done for a while now.
    Heidelberg has no new exits, but there are extra FPDs on the way to the exit on platform 2.

    Platform 2 at Mount Waverley, East Malvern, Gardiner, Tooronga and Heyington have got a new exit each.
    Surprisingly no stations on the Frankston line have them, and Carrum no longer has tactiles.

    There are "myki works" happening in the next couple of weeks down that line. Whether it involves adding more exits remain to be seen.

    Cranbourne's bypass gates will become myki exits as well. Have been measured up recently

    At Lilydale a section of fencing next to the waiting area has been taken down and myki reader poles have been installed.
    The walkway from the station to the bus terminal is still much too narrow though, this would actually be counter productive by feeding even more people into it.

    Fairfield Platform 2 had a second exit/entry added some time ago.

    Not sure it was actually necessary.

    Try to exit a down train on a weekday between 5pm and 6pm at any station in Melbourne, then get back to me. It might take a while before you make it out off the platform... Laughing

    Two stations that pre-dated the existing rollout of additional exits was Footscray platform 4 and Newport platform 2. Both platforms had a  ~2 metre wide chunk of fencing removed from beside the existing exit as part of the initial Myki rollout, giving them a total four FPDs at the exit.

    The first deployment of Myki FPDs stands have these logos ( 'ACS Solutions Switzerland Ltd')

    Newer FPDs are 'ACS / A Xerox Company'

    It seems that the latest batch of stations have received powder coated steel posts instead of the proper Myki FPD stands. Either they have run out of the proper stands, or the black posts are an interim measure by the civil works crews until the Myki contracts arrive to add the proper FPD stands, and then actual FPDs.

    I do and it is at Fairfield.

    Some more 'non standard' additional exits.

    Three additional Myki FPDs at Eltham, installed away from the exit as there wasn't any room

    Fawkner platform 2 and Surrey Hills platform 3 are getting them too.
    I don't know what the workers were doing at the exit to Chatham platform 2, but I hope they're not putting in extra FPDs for people to use at peak time. Rolling Eyes

    Does Flemington Racecourse have any myki equipment? I didn't notice any during the Sydenham line shutdown last year.

    Yes. A few in several different locations on both platforms.
