Watco (CBH) Movements

I thought there was a QRN/ARG thread, and an SSRS thread, so how about a Watco/CBH thread?

The narrow guage set of CBH001 and CBH002 with 50 wagons (25 two packs) headed south through Northam today around half past twelve, to stable overnight in Wagin, then returning tomorrow sometime. One of the guys at work saw them passing by his house, apparently having dropped Colin Tutt off and picked up another big wig for the run south to Pingelly.

Does anyone have the return working times for tomorrow? I would like to catch it coming past my place in Swan View if possible. I had one of the work guys watching the Goomalling line in case they headed out there first, but it went to the Albany line first up (still blamed him for missing it though!).

The train won't be back in the big smoke for a while, CBH are kicking off with grain haulage into the port of Albany.

Thanks for that 8888, I thought it was strange it was going down there for one night, then coming back. Might have to head south for a weekend soon.

May I ask, what kind of locomotives does CBH used? It looks like a singla cab version of S class loco.

First fleet to be based out of Wagin, second fleet to be hauling in to Geraldton by mid-August.

Is that why there are still more CBH cars at Kwinana, Tiny? I've seen a rack on the rails with a SSR loco (I think it's ZB2125?) at the front at the grain centre in Kwinana.

Cheers!

I assume you mean a rake of wagons, not a rack on the rails as a rack in railway terms is different from rake

Got a nice unexpected surprise this morning when out filling in a bit of time.

CBH005 with around 20 hoppers came through Forrestfield around 0830. My first sighting of the CBH locomotive. I like it. The train exited Forrestfield at full speed and sounded very nice.

CBH005 has an awesome sounding Nathan K5LA horn.  CBH004's horn must be partly broken as it sounded like a strangled cat in comparison.  CBH005 was hauling 15 two packs on its journey north so 30 wagons in total.
I like the look of the CBH class.  Its nice seeing something other than NR or Q class lookalikes.  The blue livery is good too.  And did I mention that they have awesome horns?

I'm unsure about CBH004's horn I think the cab end is damaged cause every time I see it long hood leading out of the geraldton port it sounds amazing can anyone confirm this?

Out and about yesterday I noticed a small rake of the CBHN wagons under the loadout at Coondle north of Toodyay. Does anyone know any other sidings where they are storing excess wagons until the locos arrive?

CBH005's issues must be resolved now. For the last couple weeks CBH004 has been running solo on 28 wagons.

Yesterday afternoon at about 1530, I caught CBH009 and a short rake of NG hoppers heading to the port through Forrestfield.
As it was in motion I wasnt able to read the load stickers on the hoppers, but they seemed smaller than what I though other NG hoppers were, though maybe is because I have seen more SG than NG stock.

Are CBH getting 2 different sized NG stock to match the loco weights, or is all NG stock of the same tonnage with loading restrictions depending on where they are running??

Rumour has it that a second grain fleet is being based out of Geraldton (or Mingenew!). Can anyone confirm this?

I would assume that each day one train would load at each of Carnamah and Mingenew, and swap destinations the following day.

I can confirm my own quote! 4G35 (?) just arriving at the port now after loading at Marchagee (!) and crossing 5G32 (?) at Narngulu which is headed back to Carnamah.
