GWA are after trainees at Whyalla.
Would the Whyalla guys be a non- relay depot, just running to Port Augusta and back?

Whyalla only works around the One Steel mill and work iron ore trains out to Iron Knob and Iron Barron. There is no main line work, there is no relay / book off work. Some people like Whyalla, others dispise it.

I have applied, born and bred in Whyalla may not help me though.

Well, I've just given it a shot. Let's see how we go.
Best of luck to you, futuredriver.

Thanks Toshi, hope there isnt much interest for both our benefit ![]()

Let's hope that's true. ![]()

These positions closed today good luck to all that applied ![]()

That's correct. I believe the ore that will run out of Whyalla on the standard gauge have their crews based at Pt Augusta.
Also what is floating around GWA at Whyalla at the moment, the new GWN class will not be the only narrow gauge locomotive they will have that will include AC traction ![]()

IMO the Whyalla trainee positions would be a great place to learn, as you would be able to build up your knowledge and experience through the 'internal' Arrium steelworks system, before operating to the mines, new motive power in the pipeline, sounds exciting to me ![]()

Anyone heard anything back yet?

Ive heard nothing.

Ive heard nothing.
Same here. I suppose, at least that means that they may still be sorting through applications?

Those who've applied, check your email inboxes. I've just received the "Thanks, but no thanks" email. I guess all I can do is to keep trying ![]()
Hopefully futuredriver has some better news than I?

Nope I got the same email, ohh well keep pushing on ![]()
