Wheel size has not been mentioned. I would expect them to be RP88 profile as resent wagons released by Austrains have the 88 wheels in them.

I can't support the project if RP125/110 wheels are to be used and would think it would be a step backwards if they are.

Just to be clear on this, there is no such thing as RP88 wheel profiles, they are Code 88 profiles. And there is no such thing as RP125/110, it is RP25 defining the wheel contour with Code 110 containing the actual dimensions.

Would have been good if Austrains mentioned on the home page that they were updated. You wouldn't want to trawl through every page to see if its been updated!

If someone was desperately wanting information about a specific project one would assume they'd be bright enough to go to that projects page before getting upset about no status updates. One could even put their thinking cap on and make an educated guess that multiple page updates and new pages for upcoming projects mean a newsletter that condenses all the updates into a neat little read is about to appear.

btw other pages have been updated today. Rather than spoon feed the babies I'll let you go find those pages for yourself.

edit: There's a typo on the website, clearly they're not turning into a fast food restaurant, the upcoming KFC wagon would really be a CKF.

This might be handy for you, then you can monitor basically any and all of the websites for any updates: http://www.door2windows.com/how-to-automatically-check-for-web-page-updates-in-mozilla-firefox/

I've got it setup for plenty of sites, Auscision, Austrains, Eureka, SEM etc etc.

The Auscision blog offers the exact same functionality as the Austrains news page - no more and no less. Actually the Austrains one has the upper hand in so far as reporting updates as it's on the sites landing page while Auscisions requires user intervention to see it. There are many recent updates to Auscision product pages that are not mentioned in their blog -  N passenger cars a perfect example. There are others, again go find them for yourself if a specific product is on your 'must know' list. And if you really must know about things as soon as possible there are many ways to find secrets that are not yet publically linked - after all that's how I exposed the dubious antics of AussieHO to you all.

48's are Powerlines & TrainOrama's, so naturally not on Austrains or Auscisions sites Embarassed

81's update link is now on Austrains news page. Hopefully everyone is now happy.

Pffffff "code" 88 is so last year AJAX, over on Aus_Model_Rail yahoo group, the current discussion amongst other things is; recollections of what tinted green glass may / might look like at 1:87, RTR product arriving without couplers either Kadee or clone ........ that HO manufacturers, sorry importers are saying the "new compromise" is  now going to be "code" 100 wheels.....

an each way bet between RP25/88 and RP25/110 perhaps...

In today's Australian HO Scale market "Code" 110 is all well and good for manufacturers targeting new entrants into the hobby with starter sets, you know the deal, an oval of track, power pack, a loco and three wagons, Am willing to stand corrected but not one HO scale Australian importers is providing this type of product currently to the market, not since I think Powerline did in the late 80's / 90's

Surely if the market is asking for finer "code 88" wheels why are the importers still accepting "code" 100/110 from Chinese manufacturers or noting 110 wheels as a requirement in their data packs being sent over.

We know that "code 88" wheels are available ex-china going from Auscision's announcement to supply "Code" 88 wheels, maybe we need to wait for people to drop off the twig or a Code 100 track buy back before we get change / progress

As for "code 100" wheels I think they look like this:

48s are indeed Powerline & TrainOrama. Living a long way from the outlets I still tend to think of TrainO, Toms & Austrains as the same mob.

Re the 81 class...
Still no samples seen... Just word that there around....
No real updates and yes I read the update which was not there when I checked th 20 class update and it was not really anything major... Already have 20 class computer shots but no 81 etc.
Little perplexed with how these guys operate.

At least Auscision know how to do it.

Perhaps you should listen a bit more to the 'word that there (sic) around' rather than constantly expecting everything to be handed to you on a silver platter. Samples have been displayed at various exhibitions around the country during most if not all of 2012, various people have taken pictures of the samples and made them available for all to view via this forum.

Here's a running sample of the Austrains loco, purposely linked via a tiny pic with no give away details as to its source. You want the big high detail version? go find it yourself , there's plenty more out there Razz

Can someone who knows please go over this image with a fine-tooth comb, make a list of the errors and send that back to JE at Austrains?

That way perhaps we can avoid all the angst over various errors that comes out with each new model.

Sweet, thanks in advance,

Even without using a fine tooth comb, I doubt if they were ever painted these colours. I think they would look better in black with red lining. Thats the first obvious.
