No I haven't The split of Route 112, means there is no longer a need for Route 31.

Well the current route 112 would mean no current need for route 11, and route 95 is definitely ceasing operation. I would have heard something if route 31 was also stopping

I'm not sure how you gather the current route 112, means no need for route 11? But your really comparing apples with oranges!

The current Route 112, doesn't mean no need for route 11. Route 11 services Victoria Harbour, which 112 doesn't, and is needed to service that and carter to the heavy peak loadings.

Route 31 is a totally different scenario , it's basically a service to provide addtional lunch time capacity along Collins St, brought about when route 11 and 12 were combined in early 2000s. So it was created to ensure demand can be met around lunch time.

When route 112 is split, there no longer a need for route 31 anymore, as Collins St goes back to having route 11 and route 12 along it, as it did before the routes where combined, thus Route 31 no longer to provide additional lunch time capacity.

OK, this thread is now seriously off topic.

Xtrapolis 904M, I suggest your ideas belong in the armchair operators section of the forum.

The purpose of this thread is to report sightings of trams in unusual locations.

Not sure if this qualifies for this thread - does the thread only apply to in-revenue service sightings? In any case, here's double-heading E classes in Flinders Street last week: Double-heading E class

This is not really double heading, but coupled operation.  Double heading refers to locomotives.

Lately I've noticed Brunswick's D2s doing a lot of testing on routes 1 and 8, I assume it is to ensure they are capable of eventually running services on these routes, when more D2s arrive at Brunswick. Although, I don't see any need for them to be tested on route 8, as there have been a lot of D2s running services on 8 before.

Good for you!

Meanwhile about 3:30 I spotted a Z3 (didn't get the number sorry, I was too busy contending with crazy Sydney Rd traffic, bad enough in a car, let alone in a 20 tonne truck.) running down Sydney Rd with Brunswick Depot on the desto, and Route 30 on the number board. A bit confused I think. It seems there were disruptions on Swanston St, so it was probably just returning home ex route 1.

Also about 5 minutes earlier on Lygon St (Brunswick) I spotted a Z3 route 8A, Elgin & Lygon St, cloely following a B2 route 1A, Queensberry St. So definetely something slowing things down on Swanston st this afternoon.

I have edited the post showing each route and the trams on it so it shows current information. Edits are:
- Removed routes 24, 31, 79, 95 and 112
- Added route 12 (A1/2)
- Edited route 78 to not show Ws as being normal on the route
- Edited A class reference on route 30, to show both types of A class, and also list them as occasional (now that 881 and 907 have moved to Southbank, I can imagine As being slightly less regular on route 30 than before the timetable)
