Hawke and Abbott have similar degrees in PPE.

No wonder that they talk about politicians being too stupid to be able to dress themselves.Sad

In all fairness to those people who choose to take a career in politics, many who work hard for the voters and in govt your comments are complete BS.

If you have no idea how got the job, the probably refrain from future comments on the subject. Look up their history in wiki at least. Most of the PM's in the last 30 years are qualified lawyers or similar. Hardly idiots. Keating is the exception with no university degree. Hawke and Abbott have similar degrees in PPE, but Hawke also has a law degree, as does Howard and Gillard. Howard's speech impenitent is due to a disability in his hearing from early childhood and as such wore a hearing aid. Abbott has more energy than most people half his age. Yes, his and Howard's religious convictions influence their decision making at times which I don't like, but that's life and the same could be said about a former deputy leader and his love for trains.

If the job is so easy, then feel free to nominate. Perhaps you can balance the limited budget and resources to cater for every whinging Joe who thinks they can do the job better. If the pay and conditions of employment for a back bencher were introduced to a railway, the union would be out on the street in minutes.

An LLB is not seen as of great moral benefit in the eyes of many people.

You, entirely missed the point (and reason) of my post. Few LLBs have such an issue with comprehension, which is why they are good in Parliament.

Not to my knowledge. I am afraid that it would fill too quickly so I shall start one called 'The most devious advertisements' which should be fairly topical politically (in Mexico anyway at the moment).

I stand by what I said about politicians though. They may have degrees or diploma's etc but most of them end up believing there own hype and are totally useless to the people of Australia. Tony Rabbit  er Abbot is proof of it. Stuff you jack I am all right could be the pollies motto. If they pulled their fingers out and actually did something for the people of Australia it would be a miracle of huge proportions instead though they argue amongs't them selves and carry on like little brats and get nothing done or else they hit the wrong target etc.

In my 60 years on this earth I have seen a lot of good politicians in my time, but most of late are just so full of smeg as to be up themselves! It does not matter what party they are from or if they are independent either! Dont pee on my leg and tell me it is raining!

Well, perhaps we should put you up there David, and see if you can actually achieve anything.

I totally agree there. Anything stated in the House should treated as the same as in a court of law. Lie and you can be charged.

Because they believe that being voted into office by a majority of a minority of the unwashed masses means they have actually been elected as God

I think in the past the information stream coming from the pollies was easier controlled. They didn't have freedom of information, internet etc. If they lied in many cases it was harder to know they did as the population was as well informed either.

In reality I think we get more value for money out of them today than we have in past as they also have access to more information and are held more accountable.

Feel free to nominate yourself for next election

Well they had to do something after that lying SOS Thomas Bent used the Victorian parliament as a vehicle for furthering his own land sales agenda. It was either clean up politics or lessen the public's ability to sue them. And we all know which way that went....

Digital 'transistor' radios as currently advertised by 3AW to avoid their broadcast of the cricket.
Ours chews through batteries like 3 x 46 class going up the Blue Mountains whilst producing bloody awful (or not at all) reception unless you poke the aerial in one eye whilst hanging upside down by the left big toe from the clothes line.
Another government swindle but I assume that someone got a quid out of it somewhere. Crying or Very sad

Should have purchased a digital 'valve' radio instead!

Digital reception should be a cliff - you either have perfect reception, or you get nothing. There's probably nothing wrong with the radio, you're just on the edge of the cliff.

Thanks Aaron - never heard of a digital valve radio so that is something that I have learned for today.
I have spent a large part of my life 'on the edge of a cliff'.
Seriously though where would one find a valve digital radio, please? I assume that it is not 1 April !!!!! Smile

Ah yes, digital radio - fine for those where it is broadcast. As in, if you don't live in a state's capital city (like me), you ain't gunna get it.

Having said that, this minor obstacle hasn't stopped the various retailers (attempting to) flogging DAB radios to us here in the Illawarra - and probably other regional & rural areas where they are slightly more useful than a bull with mammaries.

The flipside is, if you have a smart phone, or iPod touch, once you have installed the TuneIn Radio app or similar, you can get all those stations anyway.

DAB, who needs it Laughing

I don't recommend walking into a store and asking for a digital valve radio...

The digital cliff really does exist though.

Thanks Aaron. I thought that it might be available from the same store that sells striped paint.

Speaking of striped paint (which we weren't) does anyone know how they get toothpaste to come out of the tube striped? I thought that it must be in separate compartments in the tube but dissection of the tube does not appear to confirm this theory.Rolling Eyes
