In "less remote" areas of the state there are contractors who recycle electrical appliances. No such animal exists here, in fact we can't even resell working electrical appliances without some sort of licence/certification.

So does a case of piles. Performing its function is nothing if the function itself is useless.

To be honest right now in Australia the most useless thing ever invented would have to be politicians as not one of them these days has really got any idea at all. No matter what party they are from. After that comes elections how some dopey idiot with big ears ever got to be Prime Minister is still a mystery to most, I don't really think he knows either.

In all fairness to those people who choose to take a career in politics, many who work hard for the voters and in govt your comments are complete BS.

If you have no idea how got the job, the probably refrain from future comments on the subject. Look up their history in wiki at least. Most of the PM's in the last 30 years are qualified lawyers or similar. Hardly idiots. Keating is the exception with no university degree. Hawke and Abbott have similar degrees in PPE, but Hawke also has a law degree, as does Howard and Gillard. Howard's speech impenitent is due to a disability in his hearing from early childhood and as such wore a hearing aid. Abbott has more energy than most people half his age. Yes, his and Howard's religious convictions influence their decision making at times which I don't like, but that's life and the same could be said about a former deputy leader and his love for trains.

If the job is so easy, then feel free to nominate. Perhaps you can balance the limited budget and resources to cater for every whinging Joe who thinks they can do the job better. If the pay and conditions of employment for a back bencher were introduced to a railway, the union would be out on the street in minutes.

Whilst all of the above is no doubt true, the measure is "what have they achieved to benefit everybody in Australia?" I don't care if you have a Degree in Morse Code from the University of Swettipore; if you don't use it to advantage, what good is it?

I agree on the qualification bit and Paul Keating obviously proved he could be treasury without one.

The original poster indicated that they are all useless idiots which is not the case for most of them and if people actually bothered to see what happened behind the scenes to get something like a railway done, including months to years of lobbing, presentations, budget negotiations, scoping and feasibility studies, compromises because one area wants a railway but another wants a hospital, another wants a new bridge, new school, another is complaining grandma isn't getting her medicine etc etc they may actually refrain from making such comments.
