I regularly as part of my daily exercise walk along the cycle path on Dynon road with the PN terminal on one side and the Aurizon on the other. It seems pretty apparent given this is the traditional pre-Christmas build up that all operators are picking up business but that also notwithstanding this build up the transfer of Aurizon business to other operators is starting to kick in. Usually both PN and Aurizon yards are usually pretty empty by around Sunday morning but yesterday whilst Aurizon was still building up a full length intermodal, there were long rakes of empties in the yard.
Haven't see reports on how SCT's 5th service ex Melbourne on Friday's is performing as its only week 2 but appears most SCT trains are now running three locomotives so that operation is well developed. Hopefully wee'll get a bit more visibilty around SCT's operations but I'd be surprised if they wouldn't shunt a Brisbane train at Barnawatha to pick up northbound loading and similarly southbound drop off's but that of course will be dependent on what SCT feels is best operationall/financially.
Anyway good to see the shuttles running on top of their long-haul service
