Chance of a Maryborough-Ararat line speed increase or am I being a bit optimistic? Smile

At 3pm a diesel with 3 stainless steel passenger carriages (comengs?) went thru st arnaud at a crawl. Unfortunately it was past me before I realised it wasn't our ordinary traffic. Any ideas about what, where when, or who? Whoops didn't read the last page of posts, they were the AKs refered to above.

ARTC TAA (link below) tends to indicate that it is probably doing all of the Western SG lines.

Notice the 3 day 'layover' at Ararat, so it is probably going up to Mildura and Murrayville as well as down to Portland. It then seems to be destined for the lines north of Murtoa and Dimboola as well going by the 'thence as tabled by VLine' there.

Thanks for above. Unfortunately, there obviously isn't a three day layover in ararat, because it's heading to mildura at the moment. At least it runs daylight, so I don't need to get up during the night. Smile

8143 and the AK cars made it to Murrayville at the weekend, the full length even, right to the mound of earth at 582km - the end of the line.

James the loading count for the train in TEU was above 70 for the UP service.

Yep I've counted 74 TEU in my above so that makes sense.

I am surprised that the RRA haven't issued a press release about the return of Passenger Trains to Mildura and Murrayville, claiming that it was as a result of their work. They probably have no idea that the train isn't as it appears.

No doubt the sight of the train would have puzzled a few, given that it has never been up that way before.

Yes usually on a Thursday and Friday morning as seen here 7901V runs up to red on MBY2 then moves off into Maryborough for a crew change and after 7901V has departed north 7904V which has been in Maryborough yard departs for Melbourne via Ararat.  The cross was late this day usually occurs around 05.00 .
