HI all,
Sorry to be a bother here! But I am rather curious. What is happening with the older, first EMUs pulled from service now? Are they temporarily forgotten in some yard somewhere?
I live about a 5 minutes' drive away from Elimbah yard, so I do check occasionally. It's been chock full of EMUs for some time, and an ICE set. I think there is one, maybe two roads free on the sides of the yard, because occasionally a random NGR shows up and sleeps over for a couple of days, which is weird to me because I didn't think the NGRs were cleared to run on the Caboolture line, so what's it doing there?
What is the future of these retired EMUs? They can't stay in the Elimbah graveyard forever, so what's the next step? When will they finally face the guillotine, and where? Have any already been chopped up, or are in line to be? Finally, when will the other two ICEs be retired? I would really like one final ride on them soon - they are by far and away, my favourite train. I shook my head when I saw the one unit there in Elimbah, but I guess it has to happen some day.
Sorry for all the questions! Again, I'm curious!
Cheers,
Rory
