Next La bore leader will need to have some charisma, speak clearly, not slur their speech, is not a sourpus, or carry a painted on frown, and make voters feel upbeat about change. I can't think of anyone that fits this description... Except Malcolm Turnbull.

Nah, Probably Becoming a actual progressive party and moving to the left like Corbyn has done to the British Labour Party. they lost because they did not adapt and just kept attacking the libs and claiming 'we won't get rid of our leader in office'. They Need a Corbyn moment in my opinion.

Bank shares are all up a couple of dollars this morning,so is it house prices to be pumped or the recommendations of the royal commission to be swept under the carpet. Sounds like back to business as usual.

Looks like Flunk is over the line in Boothby, as much as I am no fan, this is great news because it makes Sharkie a useless duck. Irrespective of the broader result at the next general election, I am calling it now, if Flunk is in this Mayo will fall blue again in the next house.

Nah.  A Corbyn-like leader of the ALP in Australia would be the polar-opposite of Bob Hawke.  I suspect some people were sentimental for another Hawkey but didn't see one in the modern ALP which doesn't like Larrikins anymore....

Has any Victorian really thought through the impacts now of a Coalition Government at the federal level for another term when it comes to funding rail projects in Vic?

East West Link funding should be made available to those rail projects which are planned and not another road which the people have voted against?

Yeh, I know how likely my idea is to get traction in the Labour Party is. Zilch. But any how the'll probably continue on the path of being a slightly progressive version of the liberal party

Rumors were circulating that Shorten would be out within the first 12 months in his prime ministership. Despite the ALP leadership rules.

Either that or a hostile Senate blocking supply.

Albo has confirmed that he will be a contender for the ALP Leadership, along with Tanya Plibersek. I hope Anthony gets it, much more charisma than that drone Bill Shorten...

You still haven't shown how a minute increase in CO2 is doing all this.  It has to be the most dangerous chemical on Earth.   Here I was thinking it was the lifeblood of the planet.

Co2 is bad...when it gets out of balance, as it's slowly doing right now due to human induced global warming.

This is incremental and will happen over decades...not just a few years as Don Dunstan is proclaiming.

Mike.
So when I can expect the catastrophic cyclones wiping out Sydney as was predicated? When do we see all the mainland reservoirs dry up?

Failed predictions equal a false prophet. Ignore them, the world is NOT ending. I'll stake my life on it.
don_dunstan

Your short term, me, me, me thinking is nothing short of breathtaking. You'll be dead anyway because this is occurring over a number of decades.

Clearly you have no offspring who will have to try and deal with this when it becomes a runaway event.

You don't believe in human induced climate change...that's your prerogative...but welcome to the flat Earth society, because, along with other deniers like Andrew Bolt and Janet Albrechtsen, you are a part of that right wing Murdoch media climate deniers supporting league.

  ANR Assistant Commissioner

No it's not just you. seats that have swung liberal or national will be rewarded with pork barreling, all others can fall into the sea. It is the downside of our great democracy.

Late to the discussion apologies for such however it seems Victoria will be back to the poorer cousin and Queensland and NSW will again be funded large amounts for projects. What will we get now, east west funding which is not wanted and a Geelong Electrification Project with higher speeds where the funding will probably fall short?

Why is the socialist south a loser? or is it because the whole country bar them voted another direction, someone has to be wrong and its rarely the majority.

So they stuck by their hero, big deal. Time to move on.

LNP won majority on the basis of a major swing in Qld and to a lessor degree Tas and a few others. Every political party knows when the electorate swings away from its normal position, its normally short lived and will come back very quickly. Qld put Campbell Newman into power with an unprecedented majority and then dumped him like a dirty nappy less than 3 years later and put ALP back into power.

So the LNP Feds will acknowledge that some of the won seats this time could go back quite easily and therefore they need to focus on all Vic.

In FB yesterday there was a post

"What should SCOMO do first as re-elected PM?"

I lost count of the
- Cut the ABC
- Sell the ABC
- Get rid of the ABC
etc

Probably every 10th or lessor post

To be honest, this stunned me. I didn't feel the ABC was hated by so many, but likely changing times. The so called Independent ABC is a crock of poo, we all know that so if they are not independent then why is it there.

My question would be, if the ABC is so unpopular do we need a separate TV station and its huge overhead costs to make these CSO TV programs?
Or could we simply pay a production company to produce the approved content and then pay a commercial TV station to broadcast it under a bidding contest where they keep any advertising revenue during the show!

Yep.  Obviously she doesn't want a poisoned chalice and a knife in the back in about 1-2 years time (i.e. become the next Brendan Nelson).

That said, I can't stand her.

Albo comes across as a bit of a left-wing Latham in a lot of ways.

Latham has never known which wing he's flapping, mainly because his mouth is flapping non-stop.
