Did scomo not just face an election in Victoria this last weekend and still win. ...........................

Didn't win in Victoria. Morrison by May 2022; Andrews Sat 26 November 2022.

and the project will still not have started and should not be.

How on earth is this all going to work?  Councils are lowering speed limits and reducing the available paths and parking for cars, and rightly so.  There is no point building anymore more toll roads into and out of the city.  The Westgate Tunnel will be a massive failure, I bet lunch on it.

He didn't need to win in Victoria. That is why it was called a federal election. I think this thread is starting to get off topic a bit but I would still love to know what Victorian funds are being spent in NSW. Has Daniel Andrews graciously donated some money to NSW or something that I did not know about?

As for the eastern freeway it needs a t-way that can handle buses and trams. Buses could be done immediately with a slow upgrade to trams or even trains in the future.

He can't claim a mandate to build the East-West Link, a project rejected twice by the electorate (thrice if you count this election).

Money better used in regional Victoria for higher speed services.

Doncaster Rail would be great but sadly looks like it will never eventuate

Problem is the busway will only carry 4000 people Max and that’s with articulated busses

The Hoddle St/Eastern fwy and Alexandria Pde congestion is bad and needs to be addressed. Light rail wouldn’t really work, can only travel at 70-80km/h, well below a car and it also has to manoeuvre itself into the city while also connecting to Victoria Park for connecting passengers

However, Doncaster Rail would likely cost 5 Billion and need to travel through suburbs like Balwyn and out to Donvale to make it any viable. It would also rely on Metro 2 being built between Flagsaff and Clifton Hill

How much would all of this cost ?
Probably 10 Billion

We don’t have that sort of money lying around and we have a skills shortage with all the work being done across Victoria

So what the hell do we do if we don’t build the EWL because sooner or later something will have to be done

I don't think anybody is saying that scomo has any mandate in Victoria to build anything and especially the east west link.

Building a t-way for buses in the short term would be cheaper and carry a lot more then 4,000 people as suggested. Adelaide,Sydney and Brisbane all have bus ways and bus lanes which allow significantly more then 4000 people to be carried. It also allows multiple connections to more places then just doncaster along the route of the eastern freeway.
