Seems like the government is making some changes at the top of V/Line. Jeroen Weimar leaves the organisation and Gabrielle takes the chairman's role at the organisation.

Will we finally see some improvements?

I'd be curious to know how it will make a blind bit of difference.

What will it take to change the culture. Poor services for over 10 years in my north east line.

Do enlighten us as to what V/Line’s culture has to do with the quality of services on a line they don’t maintain, with rolling stock they have no power to replace.

It's another Chick appointment...!  She's got a Bachelor of Laws (Corporate) and Chem Eng. - https://au.linkedin.com/in/gabrielle-bell-13266852

"Gabrielle Bell's appointment as chair will allow V/Line to continue improving its performance and delivering better services for passengers," Ms Horne said.

Ms Bell sits on the boards of South East Water, VicSuper, and InLife Independent Living.  She has worked as a corporate lawyer in Australia and South-East Asia, specialising in general corporate advisory.

Ms Bell is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical)."

From Horne's vacuous statement....its all about increasing the number of WOMEN in Top Jobs (noting that she's been appointed by another Woman) and; ALAS, not the relevance of her work skills & experiences to V/Line's business operations...!

It seems that Ms Bell is collecting directorships. It's probably a very nice way to make a living, just a few hours a week for them all. I'm sure the expense to V/Line is justified and will stand V/Line in good stead for many years hence

What's her gender got to do with it?

I'm sure she would be just as incompetent (or not) as any male likely to be so appointed.

Let's see; Laws (corp) and Chem Eng. V/Line can now dump the high powered law firm they have on retainer as they have that expertise in house now, and I'm sure her advice on chemical matters will help the board immensely in their deliberations

Given the fact that she knows bugger-all about running a railway, the cynic in me says it's tokenism.
