Oakleigh Station works

The "upgrade" works at Oakleigh Station have started.

The recently completed bike/walking track has been closed, the new fences pulled down, new paving dug up, recently re paved carpark closed (for 12 months), a new pedestrian crossing installed in Haughton Rd 20 m from the other new pedestrian crossing opened a couple of months ago, and the new Myki readers  (greatly improved) installed this week - including on the old Platform 1 (which is closed and being demolished) and not near the new entrance being created at the other end of the platform.

It's probably not a lot of money in the budget of LXRA, but not a good look, which is now a source of humour and negative comments in the area.

In summary:  no planning, preparation and lots of waste due to poor communications from the project and other agencies working on the area.

Maybe they're going to reinstate platform 1? And they should also do something about the cabin they installed under the bridge as it took away some car parking.

Here's what the council are doing:

or at least what they are proposing to do.

Thanks Duttonbay.
Interesting that the LXRA diagram in the flyer has Platform 1 & 2 labelled incorrectly!

old Platform 1 is gone - never to be re-instated - we went from 5 tracks available at Oakleigh in the 60's, to 4, to 3 (I think 1990's) until 2018 and now just 2.
The carpark under Warrigal Road is closed until Aug 2020 and being used as a store for plant and stuff.

I wonder when the track alongside 4 road (the Haughton Road side) was removed. I spent a lot of time at Oakleigh in the 60s, and it wasn't there then. I've only ever seen that track on old photos.
Edit: It's not shown on a drainage drawing I have of Oakleigh date 4/60.

Thanks DuttonBay.  I have looked into the Haughton Rd tracks history and found I was way out: "No 4 road, was the long gone run around track for terminating trains. No 4 road ...  abolished 16/12/1928"  Thanks to https://www.victorianrailways.net/photogallery/suburb/oakleigh/oakleigh.html

The run-round was actually 5 road. See diagram on the same site:
