Melbourne trains and stations on film and TV

After posting my last reply in the "most loved/hated suburban station" thread I thought this would make an interesting topic on it's own.

As mentioned, a scene from Jackie Chan's Mr. Nice Guy was filmed on the escalators at Parliament station. (It may have been Melbourne Central) Other films, tv shows video clips and advertisments have also been filmed at Parliament station.

Numerous episodes of Stingers have been filmed at Victoria Park station, both on the platforms and in what was the goods yard. A station on the Alamein line (Willison?) was used a few years ago on an episode about train spotters. Numerous locations around the suburbs near rail lines have also been used as the backdrop for various drug deals and busts.

Has anyone else got any others?

Kananook station was the focal point for that episolde of Sensing Murder last Sunday (26/09/04)

I think I read somewhere that Richmond station was also used in the opening scene of the movie Romper Stomper.

And Armadale was used as the backdrop for one of the new Metlink ads.

Mount Waverley was on the news in about 1990 because a bird flew up and down peering into every train that came.

I was caught on it (at the age of 9) so I'm told.

Sunbury is used as Mt Thomas station.

Rockbank was Coopers Crossing station in Flying Doctors.

I'm (just) old enough to remember Lilydale as Bellbird.

One of the episodes of the Australian series of Mission Impossible was filmed at Caulfield (with K153 and V cars).

8A at the old Belgrave station in Come Midnight Monday. The first episode of Homicide was all over Puffing Billy. Puffing Billy also once became the Wandin Valley Railway.

R761 inside Newport Workshops in the Raguletto ad.

The Twinings ad filmed at Hawthorn.

Films
- The railway scenes in Australia's first feature film, The Story of the Kelly Gang, were filmed at Rosanna.
- Spotswood (with Y133 hauling Steamrail cars) was in the film of the same name.
- I think Flemington Racecourse platform (with K190 and recently withdrawn W cars) was used in the film Death of a Soldier.
- The original On The Beach had Harris trains at Flinders St and Frankston. The remake had K183 at Flinders St.

Wasn't that Healesville? I'm too young to remember the show, but I seem to recall this being brought up before. I think I've seen a clip from this show on TV as well.

Blue Healers has also had scenes shot amongst the relics at Newport Workshops.

And I've seen the Coopers Creek hangar at Point Cook, I think the Gomad used in the show was still there too.

There was one really good episode where it was where all these teenagers doing some illegal activity around the Rail Yard.. I can't remember much but there were a N class and a N Set in the so called Mt Thomas station!

Anyway, the yard had a lot of waggons I forgot what type.. but all I can remember is the ending where a kid's dad who try to stop him hanging out with theses 'bad' kids, he end up having his foot jammed between the rails and the concrete footpath... and he ends up being run over by a N?class loco.. or was it a P Confused

Solo One was filmed around Emerald and included shots of Puffing Billy.

Come Midnight Monday was mentioned, but it wasn't just Belgrave where they filmed.

Then of course there was Malcolm filmed on the tram network.
