Just to be different, 8184 is working 1293 to Canberra tonight single unit.
It is about time they put some real engines on our trains again! Very Happy (Pitty it isn't an alco!)

Why only a single unit? I will have to find some more work in CBR so I can get the next installment on video.

Regards,
Brian

It had 8144-X53 last Friday.

Presumably the loco is chosen to suit the load. A few weeks ago it had a single X and only 10 tanks.

Cheers

Two of our X's have been stolen for use on the CRT train so we get better engines and due to the lighter load we could take it with a single 81

The two 'X' went south on 6SM9 Friday 29th October behind G529, all three working through Picton.

8184 is a good loco to me (as I have the Powerline HO scale model of it runs well).
But I do agree with you ALCO king, I really miss the Jumbos (442's) allot. They were a beautiful loco to watch, especially at Arglen bank, often doubles or a 44 or 45 with the jumbo was, 'a sound to fall to sleep with, (I'll could go to sleep with a tape of ALCO loco engines chuging deeply much better then any of Mum's classical CD's Laughing)
And their funny sounding horns, some were a little deep, some sounded like a spring busting when given a quick tug on the horn cables. I am pleased that the NSWRTM have 44211, and look foward to seeing it again this year, more need to be preserved.

But yeah, I remember some of the old oil trains hauled by 48's & 49 class loco mostly, with the occasional 44 on them trains. Good to see LVRF & Silverton still love ALCO power with old 442's still in use.

Cheers to 2005.
