How do you modify the bogie, and what is the contact number for Trainworld. Also what particular wagons would it be suited to?

If you don't know how to use http://whitepages.com.au you could always try http://trainworld.com.au/ - works for me...
But to save you the trouble of even clicking on the link, their number is 03-9596-6342

You don't need to modify the bogie as it will bolt onto any carriage. it will suit any wagon running after the peroid of the ceasing of use of guards vans.

Arrived today ... she has sound, but regrettably the sound doesn't work on DC (DCC only), so I haven't heard it yet. Now I have to get the time, and the guts (given what these are worth) to convert her into an MZ III as in use here.

I must say, she seems a smooth runner, and I love the lights - very well done. A slightly delayed and gradual takeoff after the lights come on fully on DC is a nice touch also. I was surprised to see traction tires though on four wheels, and some of the detail parts require fitting by the purchaser (I didn't bother as I would just remove it anyway to do the modifications). The grills are not seethrough. although the fans are, with the speaker mounted underneath.

From your description of the Helga it would have to be a Roco model as they have always made heavy locomotives and then added traction tyres, one wonders what they expect you will pull with one, everything on your layout by the looks. Nice model though!

Yup, Roco with a factory fitted Loksound decoder - and yup, she's a heavy beast, so the traction tyres were even more of a surprise.

biqua I considered buying two of these a year ago and do the mods also. I think they were around the $250-300 without sound $400 with. Found them on the net from a shop in the states. If you don't mind what did you pay and where did you get them?
Cheers

After some serious modelling over the holidays, I made a bit of a light hearted addition.
Edward makes my collection of the Railway Series' first 8 engines complete. However it is unfortunate that Hornby went with the most inaccurate representation of Edward, an LNER 'Shire' class, rather than the more accurate depictions of D20, D34 or D40 locos. As a result, he has a much larger boiler than should, steam exhaust pipes and a footplate with a step at the front.
Edward should be similar in boiler size to James, and considerably smaller than Gordon. This model has a larger diameter boiler than both.

If you look closely at Hornby's Thomas range you will find a lot of old models in there, there are some completely new ones but most are rehashes of obsolete models in this range, looks like they want to get their money's worth out of the old moulds that have been put away, there is even some ex Lima models in there now!

Oh, I'm well aware that other than Toby, Bill/Ben, that the moulds used are superseded ones.
But Hornby has had in the past at least LMS 2P locos which are not currently in production. A 2P is a better representation of the Furness Railways' 4-4-0 than the 'Shire' class. (Edward is an ex FR 4-4-0 Seagull locomotive with NWR modifications).

My X class and 930 class has started to have their wheels paint peeling off. Not on the side of the wheels but actually where the wheel contacts the railhead. Not happy especially with my 930. No other locos have DONE it yet and hopefully they wont

If they are Austrains and Trainorama it is simply the blackening agent wearing off, of the tread of the wheel, nothing to worry about as it will wear off with use.
Do not try to do anything about it though, as it could make this worse. All locomotives do this on the wheels given time, although some do it faster than others, like I said it is nothing to worry about and is normal!

No big deal. Look at the wheels on a real operational loco and you'll notice that they're very shiny!
