As some people like myself is to makeup train models, It cames very handy if you got skills and know how. Today I started to scratchbuild a tender soon will be a K Class Tender buy useing a Roundhouse Mech from a Shunter. To me this is a cheap way to have your VR steamer. Soon I willbe hunting for a K Class cab, boiler & smoke deflecters. Wheeles , Rods, Motion Gearing and Chassies willbe taken from a Tyco Locomotive the 2-8-0 type. This will take for me to make. I'll hopeing to make over the summer break.

soungs good R761. If you need any scale measurements PM me and ill take them off the PSM K class. Im pretty sure theyll be rite lol! As you may know i started my RX ages ago, not going anywhere till the wheels for the loco come. The tender is about 95% complete, just gotta line it with tsome BGBred lines and the add a draw gear to attach to the loco. Theres a pic of the tender as it is now in the model railway gallery. My workbench has been full of projects for a while now. I've got two LL E-8's that i'm cutting the roofs off to make myself a couple of accurate(ish) CLP/F's. Kato SD-45 undergoing the chop to become a 31 class. another SD-45 to become a C-class. A WABX and SAR M van awaiting paint and assembly. and an RSD4/5 i've converted to an 830 that is awaiting paint. And several packs of Micro Trains 1015 bulk packs awaiting assembly.

Hopefully I will have time soon to finish off some of these.

Yesterday I Built The Tender For a K or a D3, I will most likely to make a K. The tender is nearly 80% complete. This one is gonna be like Steamrails type, With coal Exst, This took me hours, I even Acccidently cut top my finger with a hobbie knife, Luckly I had electrical tape very handy to use it as a quick bandaid Laughing Laughing

I'm about to start work on my CPH Rail Motor. I'll probably do a card mock up to start with. Depending on how it goes I might look at a CHP and some CTHs.

I've finally started on my Siemens, up to about the forth version now. This time I'm going to work from the bogies up, as opposed to my previous attempts at body first. As the bogies and fronts are the most difficult, I figure I might as well get them correct first. I'm intending to use styrene for everything except wheels, which I will probably dig out of an old bogie with the correct dimension. Although a "black-beetle" would be nice, it’s a bit out of my price range, so I will make do with a home made traction system of some sort. All in all, I'm hoping to complete a 3 car set within a year or two and for under $20. So far, I have made four bodies, none of them up to my standards, but good experiments, and a brilliant bogie side frame (even if i do say so myself Wink ) which I intend to use on the final Siemens, for about $2 (the cost of the styrene sheets). I’ve also got and X’Trapolis on the way, but intend to complete the Siemens first. I have made the X’Trapolis front and bogie side frames, both of which are significantly easier than the Siemens, but the curved sides pose a problem that can wait until a later time.

With the delivey on my R class which I brought has found its way on my workbench. The locomotive is running fine but I placed windows in front of the cab, A new road number from R707 to R761, KD coupling fitted to the tender and also the real A2 986 Small coal bits which I dugup a couple years ago from its ashpan has been placed into the the R class tender. The reason to change the road number from R707 to R761. 1 I work with Steamrail. 2 My R had no number plate on the back of the tender. MMM I mite place Steamrails Head Boards in front of My R class. I also got a couple of M, U, BP vans to make over the summer brake. At this stage I,m placing them on hold.

After some years, my CLP10 and CLF7 are nearing the end of their construction. First started some 8 or 9 years ago, I was originally using a F7 nose and cab, the F45 body and used the F45 chassis. But after 6 months the project sort of died and was put away til about 2 months ago when constructed was restarted and I decided to start afresh. The bodies now use the Lima nose and cab and the rest of the body is built from scratch but using the radiator fans and grills from the Austrains C class body. The chassis is the mech from the fore mention body. CLP10 is carrying the Australian National livery of green, yellow and silver and CLF7 is in the bumble bee or tiger colours of orange and black.

I suppose I could've waited til Austrains brought out their CLP's but I feel I could do a reasonable job but not in the same class as Austrains. I couldn't compete with with them. When they are totally finish, I will put some pics on the image gallery.

There are two AMPZ/AMRZ motorail wagons on my desk: they began life as Hannovale kits. The first is painted and loaded, but the second was not as good a kit - one side pulled up about 5mm short - and this is in process of construction and modification.

If you have that streak of masochism, and really would like to finish an IP, Ghan or Overland, give these kits a go.

Thanks L254. NR52 was the easier one of the two indigenous NR's to paint. NR30 had alot of detail to apply and obliviously took longer to complete (about 10 days) were as NR52 only took about 5 days. But it took nearly 12 months from time I finished NR30, July 2003 til I found the creative energy (or so to speak) to start on NR52 which was completed, July this year. (I've only just now stopped seeing spots before my eyes!!)
